The results highlight the feasibility of 3D Bi2MoO6 microspheres as an efficient visible-light-responsive photocatalyst for antibiotic removal in an aqueous system.The role played by oxygen vacancies and rare earth (RE) elements in the anatase-to-rutile (A-R) phase transformation of titanium dioxide (TiO2) is still a matter of controversy. Here, we report the A-R transformation of TiO2 thin solid films as obtained by ion beam sputtering a RE-decorated titanium target in an oxygen-rich atmosphere. The samples correspond to undoped, single-doped (Sm, Tm, and Tb), and codoped (SmTb, SmTm, and SmTbTm) TiO2 films. In the as-prepared form, the films are amorphous and contain ∼0.5 at. % of each RE. Selleckchem Nazartinib The structural modifications of the TiO2 films due to the RE elements and the annealing treatments in an oxygen atmosphere are described according to the experimental results provided by Raman scattering, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and optical measurements. The A-R transformation depends on both the annealing temperature and the characteristics of the undoped, single-doped, and codoped TiO2 films. As reported in the literature, the A-R transformation can be inhibited or enhanced by the presence of impurities and is mostly related to energetic contributions. The experimental results were analyzed, considering the essential and stabilizing role of the entropy of mixing in the A-R transformation due to the introduction of more and multiple quantum states originated in vacancies and impurities in the anatase phase.In the present study, three CBM blocks in the central and southern Qinshui Basin, China, including Fanzhuang, Zhengzhuang, and Changzhi blocks, were selected. Combined with the data, such as the physical properties of coal reservoirs, logging, hydrofracture operation, injection/drawdown well testing, microseismic fracture monitoring technology, and over 2000 days gas production rate, the key factors affecting the gas production rate of CBM wells were analyzed comprehensively and systematically. Unimodal and bimodal models can be identified according to the long-term gas production rate data. The unimodal model corresponds to a declining pump pressure curve, meaning that caprock integrity is destroyed during hydrofracture operations, commonly causing poor gas production performance. The bimodal model is associated with fluctuating-rising and stable pump pressure curves, indicating good hydrofracture consequences. On the premise of the relatively high gas content, the gas saturation/critical-reservoir pressure ratio, permeability, and coal deformation are the major geological factors that affect the long-term gas production performance of CBM wells. Engineering factors, including pollution by the drilling fluid and cement paste, the type of the fracturing fluid, tonstein intercalation, coal deformation, and in situ stress, affect gas production performances via the following four mechanisms the effect of hydrofracture operations on caprock integrity, the effect of fluids pumped on the pore-fracture system, the initiation and propagation of artificially induced fractures, and the performances of proppants pumped. This work can provide guidelines for the optimization and development of high-rank CBM blocks.Inulosucrase is an enzyme that synthesizes inulin-type β-2,1-linked fructooligosaccharides (IFOS) from sucrose. Previous studies have shown that calcium is important for the activity and stability of Lactobacillus reuteri 121 inulosucrase (LrInu). Here, mutational analyses of four conserved calcium-binding site I (Ca-I) residues of LrInu, Asp418, Gln449, Asn488, and Asp520 were performed. Alanine substitution for these residues not only reduced the stability and activity of LrInu, but also modulated the pattern of the IFOS produced. Circular dichroism spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation indicated that these mutations had limited impact on the overall conformation of the enzyme. One of Ca-I residues most critical for controlling LrInu-mediated polymerization of IFOS, Asp418, was also subjected to mutagenesis, generating D418E, D418H, D418L, D418N, D418S, and D418W. The activity of these mutants demonstrated that the IFOS chain length could be controlled by a single mutation at the Ca-I site.Juniper berry is an important medicinal plant used in pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries thanks to its strong antioxidant potential, which is attributed to the presence of phenolic compounds. In this study, four different solvents, namely, aqueous acetone, aqueous ethanol, aqueous NaOH, and water, were used in the extraction process with a view to optimize and determine the polyphenolic contents in the juniper berry using ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometry. Many experiments were performed at different solvent concentrations, time, temperature, and liquid-solid ratio. The models to evaluate the effects and the optimum of these variables on the polyphenols extraction using the response surface methodology (RSM) were developed. The predicted values of the polyphenol content of juniper berry were thus highly correlated with costly measured values (SECV = 0.14 and R2 = 0.97), and the optimal conditions of extraction were determined for the different solvents. Following the numerical optimization, the maximum predicted polyphenol contents obtained under the optimum extraction conditions are as follows 17.
