Linking the Gap Among Morphometric Likeness Maps as well as Gene Transcribing in Alzheimer's Disease.
The methodology presented in this paper is of particular interest to decision makers who are risk averse, as it will help to better incorporate their preferences in the process of deciding how to best allocate scarce healthcare resources.A body of existing literature delves into how corporate social responsibility (CSR) affects employees' cognition, emotion, and behavior within an organization. These previous studies, however, pay relatively little attention to the influence of CSR on levels of creativity in employees. Considering that creativity is closely related to innovative capability, which is critical for a firm to survive, the relationship between CSR and employees' creativity and its elaborate underlying processes need further investigation. Based on a group creativity model, we argue that CSR may increase levels of creativity in employees through mediation of enhanced levels of psychological safety in employees. In addition, existing works on CSR have relatively underexplored the contextual role of leadership in translating CSR practices into employees' attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors. Using three-wave time-lagged survey data from 311 employees in South Korea, we found that CSR enhances employees' creativity via mediation of psychological safety. Additionally, ethical leadership positively moderates the relationship between CSR and psychological safety. Our findings suggest that psychological safety in employees functions as an important underlying mechanism to describe the CSR-employee creativity link. Furthermore, this paper emphasizes the importance of the moderating role of ethical leadership in the process of CSR activities. The objective of this study was to determine whether the severity of depressive symptoms was linked to healthy behaviors in Polish postmenopausal women and whether the strength of the link differed between women living in urban versus rural settings. The study was conducted in 2018 in the Lublin region of Poland and included 396 postmenopausal women (239 living in rural areas and 157 in urban areas). The severity of depressive symptoms was evaluated by the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the frequency of healthy behaviors was assessed using the Inventory of Healthy Behaviors. Postmenopausal women living in rural areas underwent menopause significantly earlier, were more often widowed, more often obese, more often less educated, and less likely to have never married when compared to those living in urban areas. Importantly, rural postmenopausal women endorsed more depressive symptoms (p = 0.049). There was a negative correlation between the severity of depressive symptoms and age in urban postmenopausal women (r = -0.174, p = 0.029), but this was not evident in rural women (r = -0.034, p = 0.600). The frequency of healthy behaviors was significantly lower in rural postmenopausal women, especially with respect to nutritional habits. A positive correlation was found between the frequency of healthy behaviors and the level of education in both sets of women (p = 0.034 and p = 0.045, respectively). To summarize, we found a significant link between healthy behaviors and depressive symptoms in postmenopausal women. We also found that this link was more evident in rural than in urban women.A pathological hallmark of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is corticospinal tract (CST) degeneration resulting in upper motor neuron (UMN) dysfunction. No quantitative test is available to easily assess UMN pathways. Brain neuroimaging in ALS promises to potentially change this through identifying biomarkers of UMN dysfunction that may accelerate diagnosis and track disease progression. Fractal dimension (FD) has successfully been used to quantify brain grey matter (GM) and white matter (WM) shape complexity in various neurological disorders. Therefore, we investigated CST and whole brain GM and WM morphometric changes using FD analyses in ALS patients with different phenotypes. Perifosine clinical trial We hypothesized that FD would detect differences between ALS patients and neurologic controls and even between the ALS subgroups. Neuroimaging was performed in neurologic controls (n = 14), and ALS patients (n = 75). ALS patients were assigned into four groups based on their clinical or radiographic phenotypes. FD values were estimated for brain WM and GM structures. Patients with ALS and frontotemporal dementia (ALS-FTD) showed significantly higher CST FD values and lower primary motor and sensory cortex GM FD values compared to other ALS groups. No other group of ALS patients revealed significant FD value changes when compared to neurologic controls or with other ALS patient groups. These findings support a more severe disease process in ALS-FTD patients compared to other ALS patient groups. FD value measures may be a sensitive index to evaluate GM and WM (including CST) degeneration in ALS patients.(1) Background A large body of research has examined the positive effects of physical activity on physical and mental health. However, for some, excessive exercise can develop into an addiction that is detrimental to their health. In the present study, we examine potential personal (self-control, self-concordance) and social (social support) resources that we assume to be related to exercise dependence. (2) Methods One hundred and forty athletes from different endurance sports participated in an online survey. Exercise dependence, self-control, self-concordance, and social support were assessed using questionnaires that are well-established in health and sport psychology. Additionally, further sport-relevant and demographic variables were assessed. (3) Results Correlational analyses supported our hypotheses that exercise dependence is negatively correlated with the personal resources trait, state self-control, and self-concordance. Social support, however, was not significantly correlated with exercise dependence. Furthermore, the results of a mediation analysis revealed that the relationship between both personal traits (self-control, self-concordance) and exercise dependence was mediated by state self-control. (4) Conclusions Our results indicate that trait self-control and self-concordance might be important personal resources that protect against exercise dependence by making state self-control available.
