Multinuclear Ag clusters sandwiched by Pt complex units were synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and NMR studies. Triggering of each acridinium derivative using alkaline hydrogen peroxide resulted in a chemiluminescence spectrum dominated by a strong emission (>95%) from the attached fluorophore. The highly quenched emission from the triggered acridinium, acting as a donor, points to a highly efficient intramolecular energy transfer in acridinium-based chemiluminophore-fluorophore tandems. A variable, and in many cases minimal, spectral overlap between the donor emission and the acceptor absorption may indicate that in such tandems the energy transfer follows the Dexter electron exchange mechanism. Moreover, fluorophores affixed through the acridinium 9-position produce a typical acridinium emission profile, demonstrating the need for close distances and favorable intramolecular orientation of the donor and acceptor moieties for the energy transfer to occur. A family of red-shifted chemiluminescent labels, all sharing a uniform triggering method, will find immediate application in multicolor ligand-receptor assays. Along with the multiplexing capabilities, the red-shifted chemiluminescent detection offers a higher tolerance to green-colored biological interferences and will therefore benefit many screening and diagnostic clinical tests.Previous studies indicate that musical instrument training may improve the cognitive function of older adults. However, little is known about the neural origins of training-related improvement in cognitive function. Here, we assessed the effects of instrumental training program on cognitive functions and neural efficiency in musically naïve older adults (61-85 years old). Participants were assigned to either the intervention group, which received a 4-month instrumental training program using keyboard harmonica, or a control group without any alternative training. Cognitive measurements and functional magnetic resonance imaging during visual working memory (VWM) task were administered before and after the intervention in both groups. Behavioral data revealed that the intervention group significantly improved memory performance on the test that measures verbal recall compared to the control group. Neuroimaging data revealed that brain activation in the right supplementary motor area, left precuneus, and bilateral posterior cingulate gyrus (PCgG) during the VWM task decreased after instrumental training only in the intervention group. Task-related functional connectivity (FC) analysis revealed that the intervention group showed decreased FC between the right PCgG and left middle temporal gyrus, and between the left putamen and right superior temporal gyrus (lPu-rSTG) during a VWM task after the intervention. Furthermore, a greater improvement in memory performance in the intervention group was associated with a larger reduction in lPu-rSTG FC, which might be interpreted as improved neural efficiency. Our results indicate that the musical instrument training program may contribute to improvements in verbal memory and neural efficiency in novice older adults.
To describe the numbers of degree completions, variety of available courses and demographics of students who study public health in Australia.

We utilised national completions data from universities between 2001 and 2018 and analysed data for students who had completed degrees labelled as public health at the bachelor's and master's by coursework level.

There have been 21,000 master's by coursework public health graduates since 2001, and 15,770 public health bachelor's degrees. Nearly two-thirds of all students study in a 'broad' degree, such as a Bachelor of Health Science or Master of Public Health. There has been an increase in the proportion of overseas students and a decreasing proportion of Indigenous students over this time.

Given the growth of graduates with public health degrees, there should be an increased focus on relevant job opportunities, as supply may be outpacing demand. Implications for public health We note three potential issues with public health education and practice in Australia. Firstly, there may be an oversupply of graduates relative to opportunities. Secondly, there may be inconsistencies in the delivery of public health courses. Thirdly, curricula may need to be revised, owing to differences in student composition.

Unhealthy diets are a key risk factor for chronic disease, with young adults (18-30 years old) in high-income countries like Australia and the UK particularly at risk. Improved public health nutrition policies can help address unhealthy diets in the population, but many of the more regulatory policies are opposed by food industry groups. This research explores how young adults in Australia and the UK discuss a range of topical public health nutrition policies and analyses whether and how their views may be associated with food industry discourses.

Eight focus groups were held in Sydney, Australia, and Glasgow, UK, with a total of thirty young adults participating. A deliberative-style method was used in the focus groups to generate discussion about six public health nutrition policies, such as taxation of sugar-sweetened beverages and restrictions on advertising of less-healthy foods. Discourse analysis was used to examine participants' discussions.

Twenty discourse codes were developed iteratively from the focus group data.
