Single-nucleotide polymorphism-based PRS is significantly associated with CFM [P = 7.22 × 10-58, odds ratio = 3.15, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.74-3.63], and the top fifth percentile has a 6.8-fold CFM risk comparing with the 10th percentile. Father's smoking increases CFM risk as evidenced by interaction parameter of -0.324 (95% CI -0.578 to -0.070, P = 0.011) with PRS. In conclusion, the newly identified risk loci will significantly improve our understandings of genetics contribution to CFM. The risk prediction model is promising for CFM prediction, and father's smoking is a key environmental risk factor for CFM through interacting with genetic factors.
To examine the validity and reliability of the Mandarin version of the Treatment Burden Questionnaire (TBQ) among stroke patients.
Stroke patients need long-term management of symptoms and life situation, and treatment burden has recently emerged as a new concept that can influence the health outcomes during the rehabilitation process.
The convenience sampling method was used to recruit 187 cases of stroke patients in a tertiary grade hospital in Tianjin for a formal investigation. Item analysis, reliability and validity tests were carried out. The reliability test included internal consistency and test-retest reliability. And as well as content, structure and convergent validity were performed for the validity test.
Of the 187 completed questionnaires, only 180 (96.3%) were suitable for analysis. According to the experts' evaluation, the I-CVI of each item was from 0.833 to 1.000, and the S-CVI was 0.967. The exploratory factor analysis yielded three-factor components with a cumulative variation of 53.054%. Convergent validity was demonstrated using measures of Morisky's Medication Adherence Scale 8 (r = -0.450, P < 0.01). All correlations between items and global scores ranged from 0.403 to 0.638. Internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability were found to be acceptable, as indicated by a Cronbach's α of 0.824 and an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.846, respectively.
The Mandarin TBQ had acceptable validity and reliability. The use of TBQ in the assessment of treatment burden of stroke survivor may benefit health resources allocation and provide tailor therapeutic interventions to construct minimally disruptive care.

This study aimed to examine the effects of excitatory brain stimulation (intermittent theta-burst stimulation; iTBS) targeting the dlPFC and dmPFC on food choice. iTBS was hypothesized to decrease consumption of appetitive snack foods, via enhanced interference control for dlPFC stimulation and reduced delay discounting for dmPFC stimulation. Using a single-blinded, between-subjects design, participants (N = 43) were randomly assigned to of the three conditions 1) iTBS targeting the left dlPFC, 2) iTBS targeting bilateral dmPFC, or 3) sham. Participants then completed two cognitive tasks (delay discounting (DD) and Flanker), followed by a taste test. fNIRS imaging revealed increases in medial PFC activity were evident in the dmPFC stimulation group during the DD task; likewise, a neural efficiency effect was observed in the dlPFC stimulation group during the Flanker. Gender significantly moderated consumption during the taste test, with females in the dmPFC showing paradoxical increases in food consumption compared to sham. Findings are consistent with possible amplification of positive evaluative processing in the presence of dietary restraint, vis-à-vis excitation of the mPFC.
The objective of this study is to estimate the additional income required of a household containing an older adult member living with a cognitive impairment (CI) consistent with dementia (CID).
Secondary analyses were provided of data from the Survey of Health Aging and Retirement in Europe incorporating data of adults' age 65 years old and older across 15 OECD countries in 2013. We also analyzed longitudinal data of a smaller subset of respondents interviewed in a previous survey wave in 2011. We used OLS regression and the Standard of Living (SOL) approach to estimating the extra costs of disability.
Households containing a member experiencing a CID are estimated to require 48% more income to maintain their SOL compared to similar households not including an adult with CID. Those with CI without dementia are estimated to have lower costs (14%). Those with longer-term CID are estimated to incur greater costs than those with a more recent onset of a CI. The extra costs are estimated to be lower in countries with more formalized public long-term care arrangements. We further identified out of pocket costs for home care services as a likely expenditure item driving these cost estimates.
Results suggest that caring for a person living with dementia can lead to considerable expenses. These additional direct costs associated with dementia provide insights for households in anticipating the risks of financial insecurity as they grow older. Future research is needed to identify the consumption items driving these estimates.

Successful stepping reactions, led by either the paretic or nonparetic leg, in response to a loss of balance are critical to safe mobility poststroke. The purpose of this study was to measure sagittal plane hip, knee, ankle, and trunk kinematics during 2-step stepping reactions initiated by paretic and nonparetic legs of people who had stroke and members of a control group.
Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to reduce the data into movement patterns explaining interlimb coordination of the stepping and stance legs. Paclitaxel in vivo Correlations among principal components loading scores and clinical measures of balance ability (as measured on the Community Balance and Mobility scale), motor impairment (as measured on the foot and leg sections of the Chedoke-McMaster Stroke Assessment), and step characteristics (length and velocity) were used to examine the effect of stroke on stepping reaction movement patterns.
The first 5 principal components explained 95.9% of the movement pattern of stepping reactions and differentiated between stepping reactions initiated by paretic legs, nonparetic legs, or the legs of controls.
