This review paper is primarily focused on bioprinting technology for biomedical applications. Bioprinting can be utilized for fabrication of wide range of tissue, based on which this chapter describes in detail its application in tissue regeneration. Further, the difficulties and potential in developing a construct for tissue regeneration are discussed herein. In this review paper, application of 3D bioprinting in tissue regeneration will be discussed in depth.Although natural killer T cells (NKT cells) are altered in obese asthmatic mice, their function remains completely unclear. To further explore the potential mechanism of NKT cells in airway inflammation of obesity-associated asthma, we examined the effects of α-galactosylceramide (KRN7000) on airway inflammation in obese asthmatic mice. Male C57BL/6J mice were divided into five groups (1) control; (2) asthma; (3) A + KRN, asthma with KRN7000; (4) obese asthma; and (5) OA + KRN, obese asthma with KRN7000. Cytometric bead array (CBA) was used to detect interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-10, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) in the serum. Flow cytometry was used to detect NKT cells and CD69+ NKT cells. Airway inflammation was observed in pathological sections, and calmodulin (CaM) expression was observed by immunohistochemistry in lung tissues. Airway inflammation in the obese asthma group was more severe than that of the asthma group. Airway inflammation of the OA + KRN group was reduced more than that of the A + KRN group. CD69+ NKT cells were only significantly reduced in the OA + KRN group. The levels of serum IFN-γ and TNF-α increased more in the OA + KRN group than in the A + KRN group. CaM is widely expressed in the cytoplasm of the lung tissues and was sharply decreased in the OA + KRN group. KRN7000 can significantly reduce airway inflammation in obesity-associated asthma by regulating NKT cell cytokine secretion and intracellular calcium. These results may contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches.

A Tadukan-type CMS line (TAA) and a restorer line (TAR) were obtained by successive backcrossing between the Oryza sativa cultivars Tadukan (a cytoplasmic donor) and Taichung 65 (a recurrent pollen parent). Using Illumina HiSeq, we determined whole-genome sequences of the mitochondria of TAA and screened the mitochondrial genome for the presence of open reading frame (orf) genes specific to this genome. One of these orf genes, orf312, showed differential expression patterns in TAA and TAR anthers at the meiotic and mature stages, with transcript amounts in TAR being less than those in TAA. The orf312 gene is similar to the previously described orf288, a part of which is among the components comprising WA352, a chimeric CMS-associated gene of wild-abortive-type CMS.

This selective behavior is often directly linked to the abundance of O2. In this paper, we study the electronic properties of TP in vacuum, micro-hydrated from one up to three molecules of water and embedded in a continuum of water. Heart rate variability (HRV) signals have been used to index autonomic activity and arousal levels towards visual stimuli. The current research aimed to examine the influence of body mass index (BMI), disordered eating behaviors, and sex on the HRV reactivity to food in a nonclinical sample. Thirty-eight healthy male and sixty-one healthy female participants completed questionnaires assessing disordered eating symptoms. HRV was recorded when the participants received visual stimuli of high-calorie food, neutral and negative emotional signals. Generalized estimating equation models were used to investigate the associations between HRV, BMI, disordered eating behaviors, and sex across the three stimulus types. Male participants demonstrated a higher ratio of low-frequency power to high-frequency power (LF/HF) than females across all the stimulus types. An increase in LF/HF reactivity to food signals was observed in all the study subjects. The moderation effect of BMI on LF/HF in response to food signals was also observed. Our study suggests that body weight may play a role in the interaction between sympathetic activity and food stimuli; however, how the interaction between sympathetic activity and food stimuli contributes to diet control warrants further investigation.Wastewater collection systems can be a source of odors that lead to complaints from plant workers, the public, and nearby property owners. The primary source of odors released from such systems is the presence of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas at high concentrations. This study was conducted in the main pumping station in Kuwait with a capacity of 570,000 m3/day to assess H2S gas emission, determine factors affecting H2S generation, and evaluate the effectiveness of the odor control system comprising stripping using sodium hydroxide and carbon adsorption. Yearly data on wastewater flow rate, temperature, pH, BOD5, and H2S were obtained from plant records over the years 2013-2015, as well as monthly data measurements were conducted during May to December 2016, and weekly data were collected during a plant monitoring program in March and April 2017. Statistical analysis showed seasonal, daily, and hourly variations in H2S concentrations, with higher values reported in summer, cyclic hourly patterns obtained daily, and peak H2S level of 10 ppm recorded at 7 pm and 40 °C.
