To explore the correlation of different glucose metabolism statues with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in middle-aged and elderly individuals in Lanzhou.
Based on the baseline data of REACTION Study in Lanzhou area, we randomly sampled 10 038 residents aged 40-75 years in 3 communities in Lanzhou, who were classified into normal glucose tolerance (NGT), impaired glucose regulation (IGR) and diabetes groups. The estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) were used to assess the renal function and albuminuria, respectively. Binary logistic regression was performed to analyze the contribution of the risk factors to CKD. Polynominal regression was used to determine the trends of eGFR with the increment of ACR.
Among all the participants, the prevalences of albuminuria, CKD and renal insufficiency (RI) were 26.2%, 27.4% and 2.5%, respectively. The prevalence of albuminuria, CKD and RI were significantly higher in the diabetes group than in IGR and NGT groups (
&y, especially in women and the elderly population.
Diabetes mellitus is a significant risk factor for albuminuria and RI, while IGR is not. Screening for albuminuria and eGFR is highly recommended for individuals with diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, especially in women and the elderly population.
To compare the effects of medical ozone oil and urea ointment for prevention and treatment of hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR) caused by sorafenib in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
A total of 99 patients diagnosed with advanced HCC according to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) who were scheduled to receive sorafenib treatment for the first time were enrolled in this study between April, 2018 and January, 2020. The patients were randomized into medical ozone oil group (
=49) and urea ointment group (control group,
=49) for treatment with local application of 1 mL medical ozone oil (experimental group) and 10% urea ointment (2 g) on the palm and plantar skin (including the fingers and joints) for 12 weeks (3 times per day) starting at the beginning of sorafenib treatment, respectively. The patients were observed for occurrence of HFSR every 2 weeks for 14 weeks.
Eight patients were excluded for poor compliance or protocol violations, leaving a total of 91 patients for analysis, including 44 in medical ozone oil group and 47 in urea ointment group. Sixteen (36.4%) of patients in ozone oil group developed HFSR, a rate significantly lower than that in urea ointment group (57.4%;
< 0.05). The incidence of grade 2/3 HFSR was also lower in ozone oil group than in urea ointment group (15.9% [7/44]
27.7 [13/47]).
Medical ozone oil can significantly reduce the incidence and severity of HFSR to improve the quality of life of HCC patients receiving sorafenib treatment.

To investigate the effect of zoledronate (ZOL) on osteoclast differentiation and bone resorption under high glucose, and the regulation mechanism of p38 mitogen activated kinase (p38 MAPK) signaling pathway in this process.
RAW264.7 cells were divided into four groups low group, high group, low+ZOL group and high+ZOL group after induced into osteoclasts. Cell proliferation activity was determined by MTT assay. The migration of RAW264.7 cells were examined Optical microscopy. Immunofluorescence microscopy was used to observe the cytoskeleton and sealing zones of osteoclasts. After adding group 5 high + ZOL + SB203580 group, trap staining was used to identify the number of positive osteoclasts in each group. The number and area of resorption lacunae were observed by SEM. The mRNA and protein expression of osteoclast related factors were detected by real-time PCR and Western blotting.
The cells in the 5 groups showed similar proliferative activity. High glucose promoted the migration of RAW264.7 cells (

High glucose inhibits osteoclast differentiation and bone resorption. find more ZOL inhibits osteoclast differentiation and bone resorption in high-glucose conditions by regulating p38 MAPK pathway, which can be a new pathway for ZOL to regulate diabetic osteoporosis.
To analyze the clinical manifestations of heart, liver and kidney damages in the early stage of COVID-19 to identify the indicators for these damages.
We analyzed the clinical features, underlying diseases, and indicators of infection in 12 patients with COVID-19 on the second day after their admission to our hospital between January 20 and February 20, 2020.The data including CK-MB, aTnI, BNP, heart rate, changes in ECG, LVEF (%), left ventricular general longitudinal strain (GLS, measured by color Doppler ultrasound) were collected. The changes of liver function biochemical indicators were dynamically reviewed.BUN, UCR, eGFR, Ccr, and UACR and the levels of MA, A1M, IGU, and TRU were recorded.
The 12 patients included 2 severe cases, 8 common type cases, and 2 mild cases.Four of the patients presented with sinus tachycardia, ECG changes and abnormal GLS in spite of normal aTNI and LVEF; 1 patient had abnormal CKMB and BNP.On the first and third days following admission, the patients had normal ALT, ASTd, especially in severe cases. In cases with normal CR and BUN, kidney damage can be detected early by calculating eGFR, Ccr and UACR and urine protein tests.
To propose a probabilistic neural network classification method optimized by simulated annealing algorithm (SA-PNN) to discriminate lung cancer and adjacent normal tissues based on permittivity.
The permittivity of lung tumors and the adjacent normal tissues was measured by an open-ended coaxial probe, and the statistical dependency (SD) algorithm was used for frequency screening. The permittivity associated with the selected frequency points was taken as the characteristic variable, and SA-PNN was used to discriminate lung cancer and the adjacent normal tissues.
Three frequency points, namely 984 MHz, 2724 MHz and 2723 MHz, were selected by SD algorithm.SA-PNN was used to discriminate 200 samples with the permittivity at the 3 frequency points as the characteristic variable. After 10-fold cross-validation, the final discrimination accuracy was 92.50%, the sensitivity was 90.65%, and the specificity was 94.62%.
Compared with the traditional probabilistic neural network, BP neural network, RBF neural network and the classification discriminant analysis function (Classify) in MATLAB, the proposed SA-PNN has higher accuracy, sensitivity and specificity for discriminating lung cancer and the adjacent normal tissues based on permittivity.
