These results demonstrate that severe lattice distortion is a core factor for developing high strengths in refractory HEAs.
Children experience a higher risk of psychiatric problems when their parents are diagnosed with cancer. However, the psychological effect among offspring who are born after parental cancer diagnosed in childhood or adolescence is unknown. We aimed to investigate the risk of psychiatric disorders in children of survivors with childhood or adolescent central nervous system (CNS) tumors.

By combining several nationwide Swedish registers, we identified all children who had at least one parent previously diagnosed with CNS tumor below the age of 20. Five children without parental CNS tumor were randomly selected for the matching. Cox proportional hazards model was used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence interval (CI).

The incidence rate of psychiatric disorders was 8.46 per 1000 person-years in children of CNS tumor survivors, whereas the rate was 7.47 in the matched comparisons, yielding an adjusted HR of 1.10 (95% CI=0.94, 1.28). Boys of survivors had a higher risk of psychiatric disorders (adjusted HR=1.29, 95% CI=1.04, 1.59). The risk of the specific types of psychiatric disorders in children of tumor survivors was comparable with that in the matched comparisons, except for mental retardation. Children of survivors experienced 2.36 times higher risk of mental retardation (95% CI=1.21, 4.58), mainly of mild mental retardation (adjusted HR=2.99, 95% CI=1.40, 6.38).

Children of survivors with CNS tumor in early life did not experience a significantly increased risk of overall psychiatric disorders, with the exception of an elevated risk of mental retardation that was mainly mild.

Given that this compound is particularly active against B-cell malignancies, we have been suggested that it can alleviate immune complexes (ICs)-mediated conditions, especially IgA nephropathy (IgAN). The therapeutic effects of Tris DBA on glomerular cell proliferation and renal inflammation and mechanism of action were examined in a mouse model of IgAN. Treatment of IgAN mice with Tris DBA resulted in markedly improved renal function, albuminuria and renal pathology, including glomerular cell proliferation, neutrophil infiltration, sclerosis and periglomerular inflammation in the renal interstitium, together with (Clin J Am Soc Nephrol. 2011, 6, 1301-1307) reduced mitochondrial ROS generation; (Am J Physiol-Renal Physiol. 2011. 301, F1218-F1230) differentially regulated autophagy and NLRP3 inflammasome; (Clin J Am Soc Nephrol. 2012, 7, 427-436) inhibited phosphorylation of JNK, ERK and p38 MAPK signalling pathways, and priming signal of the NLRP3 inflammasome; and (Free Radic Biol Med. 2013, 61, 285-297) blunted NLRP3 inflammasome activation through SIRT1- and SIRT3-mediated autophagy induction, in renal tissues or cultured macrophages. In conclusion, Tris DBA effectively ameliorated the mouse IgAN model and targeted signalling pathways downstream of ICs-mediated interaction, which is a novel immunomodulatory strategy. Further development of Tris DBA as a therapeutic candidate for IgAN is warranted.
Evidence is scarce regarding the analgesic effect of music for the relief of acute pain during the care of surgical tibial fracture wounds.

To evaluate the analgesic effect of music on acute procedural pain during the care of surgical tibial fracture wounds.

This was a randomized, controlled, blinded clinical trial with 70 patients in the immediate postoperative period for diaphyseal tibial fracture surgery. Participants were randomly allocated to two groups a control group (CG), in which patients received only the institution's standard analgesia, and an intervention group (IG) composed of patients receiving a 30-min session of music of their own choice, as a complementary method to the institution's standard analgesia. BTK inhibitor Pain was evaluated during the first postoperative dressing change, using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS).

The sample was homogeneously composed of men (91.4%), young adults (61.4%), without previous diseases (88.6%) and whose traumas were related to a motorcycle crash (84.3%). The main musical genres chosen by participants were the most popular in their region (61.4%). Those who listened to music presented lower pain scores when compared with those in the CG (IG2.4±2.4 versus CG5.8±2.7; p<0.001; η
=0.171; p<0.001).

Listening to music is effective for relieving acute procedural pain during the first post-operative tibial fracture dressing change. Music should be incorporated into the multimodal analgesia protocols for management of orthopedic postoperative wound care-related pain.

Patients with diaphyseal tibial fractures that listened to music before and during the wound dressing change showed less pain when compared to those who received the standardized pharmacologic analgesia alone.

Sinusoidal endothelial cells are uniquely fenestrated, lack basal lamina and possess organelles involved in endocytosis, pinocytosis, degradation, synthesis and secretion. Hepatic central veins are nonfenestrated but are also active in synthesis and secretion. Endothelial cells of sinusoids and central veins secrete angiocrines that play respective roles in hepatic regeneration and metabolic homeostasis. The list of markers for identifying sinusoidal endothelial cells is long and their terminologies are complex. Further, their uses vary in different investigations and, in some instances, could be confusing. Central vein markers are fewer but more distinctive. Here we analyze and categorize the molecular pathways/modules associated with the sinusoid-mediated liver regeneration in response to partial hepatectomy and chemical-induced acute or chronic injury.
