There were significant correlations between CT2000T and IT750T, IT750N, IT2000N (r = 0.383, p=0.009; r = 0.478, p=0.001; r = 0.331, p0=0.02, respectively).Conclusions There was a significant correlation between CT and IT thicknesses at different points.As a natural flavonoid compound, rutin could scavenge free radicals effectively to achieve remarkable antioxidant and anti-photoaging activity. Unfortunately, the extremely low water solubility of rutin often leads to the poor percutaneous permeability and unsatisfactory bioavailability, which has greatly restricted its clinical application. In this study, a novel freeze-dried rutin nanocrystal was developed to improve its saturation solubility, which was further redispersed in carbopol gel to formulate the targeted rutin nanocrystal gel (NC-gel) for enhanced transdermal delivery efficiency. Benefit from the advantages of NC-gel, the permeated amounts of rutin on mice in the NC-gel group was more than three times enhancement over that of the coarse drug gel group. Furthermore, the results of pharmacodynamic studies in vivo demonstrated that NC-gel could effectively prevent the skin photoaging and tissue damage induced by UV irradiation. Taken together, these results validated that NC-gel was an ideal carrier for the epidermal application of rutin to obtain excellent anti-photoaging effect, which further might provide a valuable platform for improving the transdermal bioavailability of insoluble drugs.
Cisplatin-based chemotherapy (CBCT) can cause high-frequency hearing loss, but little is known about the development and clinical relevance of this hearing loss in survivors of adult-onset cancer with very long-term follow-up. This case-control study investigates hearing and speech perception both in quiet and with background noise 30-years after CBCT.

One-hundred-and-one patients (Cases) who received CBCT for testicular cancer between 1980 and 1994 were assessed with pure-tone audiometry (.125 - 8 kHz) and speech perception tests including hearing in noise test (HINT). Self-reported hearing and tinnitus was scored by participants. Results were compared with 30 age-matched controls.

The median age of Cases and Controls was 60 (46 - 83) and 61 years (51 - 74), respectively. The median observation time for Cases was 30 years (22 - 37). Compared with Controls, Cases had 8 and 19 dB worse age-adjusted high-frequency hearing at 6 and 8 kHz, respectively (

This study validates the use of WiSAT in manual wheelchairs. WiSAT has a sensor mat which was inserted beneath a wheelchair cushion. Readings from these sensors were used by WiSAT algorithms to predict weight shifts and in-seat movements. These weight shifts and in-seat movements were validated against a high-resolution interface pressure mat in a dataset that resembles real-world usage. The proposed system achieved weight shift precision and recall scores of 81% and 80%, respectively, while in-seat movement scores were predicted with a mean absolute error of 22%. Results showed that WiSAT provides sufficient accuracy in characterizing in-seat activity in terms of weight shifts and in-seat movement.
To investigate changes in the foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area and retinal vessel density (VD) in the macula of patients receiving multiple anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (N-AMD).

This study included 54 eyes of 54 treatment-naïve N-AMD patients. Thirty-three eyes were treated with intravitreal aflibercept injections, and 21 eyes were treated with intravitreal ranibizumab injections. Unaffected fellow eyes (54 eyes) were used as controls. All image scans were acquired after the macular architecture had recovered with drying up of the subretinal fluid/hemorrhage after treatment.

Both the superficial and deep FAZ areas were significantly larger in the aflibercept group than in the control group. The VD was also significantly reduced in the aflibercept group.
