The findings of the present study are of particular interest to policymakers as they help pursue economic policies to achieve sustainable development. The concept of this paper was to explore the comparative advantage of polymer composite in the formation of a critical part of electrodes, separators, and electrolytes. These parts largely determine the overall performance of new evolving supercapacitors (SC) as against many other existing storage devices. Polymer materials are reputed for their low weight and life-cycle flexibility which makes supercapacitors unique in their functions. In this paper, application and classification of SCs were undertaken to take into consideration the peculiarities of polymer composite suitable for each class of SCs identified in this work. Part of the rationale of this review paper was to bridge the existing gap identified in many storage devices using salient properties inherent in light-weight materials. This paper also discussed the potential threats to SCs, which require further research works. It is expected that this paper would assist other researchers in evolving SCs devoid of low cell voltages, lower energy density, and reduction of production cost.Development of satellite technology over decades established unique approach to analyze rice crop phenological parameters and supervise growth and production. Advancement in technology leads to the development of microwave remote sensing that is operational round the clock irrespective of weather conditions. An attempt has been carried out in the present study to classify and map phenological stages, namely, transplanting stage, heading stage, and harvesting stage of rice crop using Sentinel-1, MODIS Enhanced vegetation index (EVI) data. Puddling stage, transplanting stage, heading stage, and harvesting stages are identified on 05th and 15th January, 28th February, and 27th March of the year 2017, respectively. Field visits are performed frequently at sampling locations for an effective study on rice phenological stages, rice yield estimation, and mapping large-scale area using regression analysis. Estimated yield is compared with ground truth data; average yield produced from study area is 3.03 tons/acre. Methodology adopted reflected satisfactory performance with minimal error for mapping of rice phenological stages, and it is suggested to experiment with other agricultural crops. The validation of an analytical procedure based on the quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) approach is presented for multiresidue analysis of pesticides in dates by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS2). The proposed methodology was applied for simultaneous quantification of 16 pesticides in 50 different date fruits. Method validation was performed regarding accuracy, precision, LDR, LOD, and LOQ, as well as matrix effects. Results of validation were satisfactory, with recoveries higher than 80% for 75% of the samples for 100- and 500- μg L-1 spike levels. Evaluation of the matrix effect revealed that for 81% of the samples, a slight matrix effect was observed. Residues in 92% of the real samples were found below national MRLs. Afterward, hazard quotient (HQ) and total hazard quotient (THQ) of human health risk assessment of pesticides was estimated using a probabilistic approach based on the Monte Carlo (MC) algorithm. Total hazard quotient (THQ) in adults based on the consumption of dates in total samples was estimated to be 7.8% and 36.7% for adults and children, respectively. EVP4593 price Since the studied pesticides are registered in the country and are the most widely used pesticides on dates, the occurrence of other pesticide residues seems to be unlikely. Consequently, the applied health risk assessment on Iranian date fruit samples showed that the HQ for adults and children populations indicates no risk to human health. This empirical study investigates the dynamic effects of economic freedom on economic growth and air quality for Pakistan over the period 1990-2019. The ARDL results suggest that economic freedom and other variables do not have any visible impact on economic growth and pollution in the short-run. However, in the long-run, economic freedom significantly mitigates air pollution whereas inflation instability increases emissions. The NARDL results show that a partial sum of positive change in economic freedom is negatively linked with economic growth in the short term but has positive effect in the long term. However, the negative change in economic freedom has negative but insignificant impact on growth confirming asymmetric effects. The results for the pollution model show that a partial sum of positive change in economic freedom has positive impact on emissions both in the short and long-runs, whereas a negative change has no significant effect in the short-run and has negative impact in the long-run. Thus, economic freedom supports economic activities that, in turn, escalate emissions in the atmosphere.Since the nonlinear ARDL approach is introduced in advanced econometric, some old relationships are getting new empirical attention. Therefore, we examine the asymmetric macroeconomic determinants of carbon dioxide (CO2) emission in China, covering the time from 1971 to 2019 and using a nonlinear ARDL model. The study results show that GDP and industrialization have an asymmetric effect on CO2 emission in long-run in direction and magnitude, while agriculturalization has also an asymmetric effect on environmental pollution in magnitude, but not in the direction. In short, GDP and industrialization have also asymmetric response on CO2 emissions in the short term only in magnitude, but agriculturalization has an asymmetric response in magnitude and direction in short-run. Therefore, this empirical research is more applicable for policymakers in China.
Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is an inflammatory condition commonly complicated by mild liver dysfunction. However, severe liver failure is rarely reported. We report three cases of severe acute hepatic failure (ALF) associated with AOSD. We encountered three cases of acute liver failure (ALF) with encephalopathy.
Case 1 was a 75-year-old female, who was started on a steroid (prednisolone, PSL) to treat AOSD; this was gradually tapered. Two months later, severe ALF developed. She died despite an increase in the PSL dose and artificial liver support. Case 2 was a 26-year-old-female taking PSL 30mg/day to treat subacute thyroiditis. PSL was tapered, and she received methyl PSL pulse therapy and artificial liver support, but this did not cure the ALF. Liver transplantation (LT) was performed 25days later. Three years later, the same symptoms were observed and we diagnosed AOSD. Case 3 was a 56-year-old-female who met the AOSD criteria. PSL 50mg/day was started and then tapered. Methyl PSL pulse therapy was prescribed to treat hemophagocytic syndrome, but she required LT on hospital day 13.
