In the current study, we used actor partner interdependence modeling (APIM) with self-reported personality traits from the Personality Inventory for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition and spouse-reported traits from the Personality Inventory for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition Informant Report Form. Composite scores for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition Section III Specific Personality Disorder Types, based on combinations of PID facets as outlined in the Section III criteria, were used to predict relationship satisfaction 1 year after personality was assessed. The alternative model of personality disorders composites significantly predicted relationship satisfaction both cross-sectionally and longitudinally. Results indicated that spouse reports of personality disorder types from the alternative model of personality disorders framework were robust predictors of satisfaction. Thus, individuals who perceive their partners as high in personality pathology (at any point in a relationship) are likely to be subsequently dissatisfied in the relationship. Interventions targeting perceptions of one's partner might be an effective way to improve marital satisfaction for these individuals. Knowledge of whether maladaptive personality traits can lead to dropout in psychotherapeutic treatment programs of PDs is important for the purpose of a suitable indication for such treatments, especially in the light of the new alternative model of personality disorders (AMPD), which is used more and more in clinical practice. The current study investigated whether pathological personality traits of the alternative model of personality disorders, as operationalized with the Personality Inventory for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (PID-5), and dimensional scores of PDs on the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4+, could serve as predictors for dropout in an intensive (day)clinical setting for the treatment of mainly Cluster C and mild Cluster B PDs. We examined the association between allelic variants of a single nucleotide polymorphism in the SAPAP3 gene (rs6662980) with specific aspects of the OCD phenotype. A total of 200 individuals with OCD were genotyped using the TaqMan assay. All participants were assessed using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview and the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale, and their response to serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs) was evaluated over naturalistic treatment and follow-up. After correcting for multiple comparisons, the G allele at rs6662980 was found to be associated with contamination and washing symptoms (p = .003). Logistic regression analysis also showed that presence of the G allele predicted poor response to SRIs (odds ratio [OR] = 2.473, 95% confidence interval [1.157, 5.407], p = .021). Interaction between presence of the G allele and the Contamination and Washing factor score predicted greater SRI resistance (OR = 3.654, [2.761, 4.547], p = .004). We conclude that specific phenotypic manifestations of OCD, which include contamination and washing-related symptoms along with resistance to SRIs, may be affected by variations in the SAPAP3 gene. Latent profile analyses revealed that a 3-class solution provided the best fit to the data a low reward value, high discounting (LRHD) class (n = 53), a moderate reward value, low discounting (MRLD) class (n = 214), and a high reward value, high discounting (HRHD) class (n = 126). Members of the HRHD class reported significantly greater alcohol consumption, past-month HED episodes, alcohol-related problems, and symptoms of alcohol use disorder than those in the MRLD and LRHD classes. The results suggest that there are 3 constellations of behavioral economic processes and that, consistent with the reinforcer pathology model, students who overvalue alcohol-related reward and discount the future more steeply are at the greatest risk for alcohol misuse and alcohol-related problems.
