INPLASY202060032.
INPLASY202060032.This study aimed to investigate the effect of the duration of embryo culture on clinical outcome in vitrified-warmed cycles. This retrospective cohort study enrolled 10,464 infertile patients, with a total of 18,843 vitrified-warmed day 3 embryos from 2012 to 2017 at a single center. The patients were divided into 2 groups 9470 cycles in the short-term culture group (0.5-8 hours of post-thaw culture) and 994 cycles in the 48 to 72 hours culture group. The independent effect of the following variables on clinical outcomes was determined duration of post-thaw culture, maternal age, transferred embryos, embryo quality, and endometrial thickness. We found that the pregnancy rate was positively associated with the post-thaw culture time. Ordinary least square regression analyses showed that the duration of post-thaw culture was positively associated with implantation and live birth rates overall. However, the implantation and live birth rates were not significantly associated with the post-thaw culture time in the short-term culture group. Additionally, maternal age and the number of transferred embryos were independent predictors of the implantation and live birth rates. Moreover, the duration of post-thaw culture did not affect live birth weight. These results indicated that the pregnancy rate is positively associated with the duration of post-thaw culture. Therefore, under the condition of not affecting work shifts, properly prolonging the duration of post-thaw culture to improve the outcome of frozen-thawed embryo transfer should be considered.Prevalence of postpartum depression (PD) in Chinese women is rising and its associated factors are not well known. In this study we aim to explore the associations between nutritional factors in pregnancy and the risk of PD in Chinese women.A case-control study was performed in our hospital during January 2016 to June 2019. A food frequency questionnaire was designed to collect food consumption before the childbirth preceding month. Nutrition related biochemical indicators including fasting blood-glucose (GLU), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), and uric acid in the third trimester of pregnancy were detected. Logistic regression model was applied to compute odds ratio (OR) and its corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI).There were 565 participants in this study, which comprised 182 individuals with PD and 383 individuals without. Patients with PD had higher odds of increased GLU (OR=2.62, 95%CI = 1.67-4.11), TC (OR = 1.73 95%CI = 1.22-2.46), TG (OR = 2.43, 95%CI = 1.55-3.81), and LDL (OR = 3.41, 95%CI = 2.09-5.57), but decreased HDL (OR = 3.41, 95%CI = 2.09-5.57) during pregnancy. With respect to uric acid, there was lack of no statistical association (OR = 2.23, 95%CI = 0.82-6.26). selleckchem Food frequency questionnaire indicated a higher meat intake, but a lower vegetable, fruit, fish, and poultry intake in patients with PD during pregnancy.Increased GLU, TC, TG, and LDL, but decreased HDL in later stages of pregnancy might be associated with PD.
Anabolic steroids are commonly used by athletes, body builders, and young adults to improve muscle strength. Deleterious effects of anabolic steroids on physical health are well-established. Psychiatric aspects are of particular importance and include psychosis, delirium, mania, depression, and aggression. We describe the case of a young gentleman who was managed as a case of androgenic steroid induced delirium.

A 33-year-old gentleman presented with increased aggression, hostility, and destructive impulses. He was a regular user of testosterone propionate, testosterone cyprionate and trenbolone acetate up to 200 mg daily in injectable form. His mental status examination showed labile effect, flight of ideas and persecutory delusions. Physical examination was positive for atrophic testes. Laboratory results showed a decreased plasma testosterone level of 9.59 nmol/l (10.4-37.4 nmol/l). Sex Hormone Binding Globulin was 23.8 nmol/l (18.3-54.1 nmol/l) and bioavailable testosterone was 5.110 nmol/l (4.36-14.30 nmol/l).

He was diagnosed as a case of anabolic steroids induced delirium.

Patient was treated with regular haloperidol and quetiapine after which his sensorium, speech and behavior improved. He was discharged on haloperidol 7.5 mg and quetiapine 700 mg daily.

The purpose of this case report is to emphasize on the neuropsychiatric effects and management of anabolic steroids manifested by delirium, increased aggression, hostility, and destructive impulses.

Pseudodiphallia, as a rare kind of diphallia, which is characterized by a small accessory penile-like tissue without a normal penile anatomy structure. Only a few cases have been reported. Here, we report a case of pseudodiphallia with phimosis and bilateral extrarenal pelvis.

A 23-year-old male visited our hospital with a complaint of external genitalia malformation. Physical examination revealed a normal-sized penis with phimosis, and an extra half glans horizontally attached to the right side of the normal glans penis is visible after completely retracting the foreskin. The CT urography showed a bilateral extrarenal pelvis, and no other abnormalities were found in the kidneys, ureter, bladder, and vertebral bodies.

Based on the physical examination and the CT urography results, the 23-year-old male was diagnosed with Pseudodiphallia.

Excessive penile tissue was resected, and a foreskin circumcision operation was performed under general anesthesia.

The patient recovered smoothly without complications (no infection, hematoma, or wound dehiscence) after surgery.
