ence postoperative complications. The diameters of the bowel endometriotic nodule, on measuring fresh specimen, were 20 × 7 × 13 mm. Conclusions Advanced laparoscopic surgical skills are needed to perform an effective and safe rectal discoid resection. Subspecialization and an adequate preoperative evaluation are of utmost importance to appropriately plan the treatment strategy against bowel endometriosis.Tea catechins, the main bioactive polyphenols in green tea, are well known for their health promoting effects. Previous studies have shown that gallocatechin-3-gallate (GCG), epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) and epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG) exerted strong inhibitory effects on mushroom tyrosinase activity in vitro, whilst EGCG inhibited melanogenesis in vivo, yet the underlying mechanisms are not entirely clear. In this study, we (i) evaluated and compared the inhibitory effects of the main tea catechins (GCG, EGCG, and ECG) on melanogenesis in B16F10 melanoma cells, and (ii) explain the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that the tea catechins significantly suppressed tyrosinase activity and melanin synthesis in B16F10 cells, where the effects of ECG > EGCG > GCG. Interestingly, the inhibitory effects of the catechins were stronger than those of arbutin (AT), a well-known depigmenting agent. Moreover, GCG, EGCG, and ECG regulated the melanogenesis of B16F10 cells through the cAMP/CREB/MITF pathway. These results revealed catechins could be used as anti-melanogenic agents to protect cells from abnormal melanogenesis.MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been prevalently studied in plants, animals, and viruses. However, recent studies show evidences of miRNA-like RNAs (milRNAs) in fungi as well. It is known that after successful infection, pathogens hijack the host machinery and use it for their own growth and multiplication. Alternatively, resistant plants can overcome the pathogen attack by a variety of mechanisms. Based on this prior knowledge, we computationally predicted milRNAs from 13 fungi, and identified their targets in transcriptomes of the respective fungi as well as their host plants. The expressions of the milRNAs and targets were confirmed using qRT-PCR. We found that plant miRNAs targeted fungal virulence genes, while fungal milRNAs targeted plant resistance genes; corroborating miRNA-mediated trans-kingdom gene regulation and the roles of miRNAs in plant-pathogen interactions. Transgenic plants with miRNAs targeting fungal virulence genes, or anti-sense of fungal milRNAs, would be expected to be highly resistant to the fungal pathogens. Here, the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Drawida gisti was sequenced and compared with the mitogenomes of other Metagynophora species. PLX-4720 The circular mitogenome was 14,648 bp in length and contained two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), and 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs). The types of constitutive genes and the direction of the coding strand that appeared in Drawida mitogenome were identical to those observed in other Metagynophora species, except for a missing lengthy non-coding region. The conservative relationships between Drawida species were supported by the overall analyses of 13 PCGs, two rRNAs, and 22 tRNAs. A comparison of the Metagynophora mitogenomes revealed that the ATP8 gene possessed the highest polymorphism among the 13 PCGs and two rRNAs. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that the Moniligastridae contained Drawida, which is a primitive Metagynophora group. Our study provides a step forward toward elucidating the evolutionary linkages within Drawida and even Metagynophora.Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) is extensively cultivated all over the world for its economic value. During curing and storage, senescence occurs, which is associated with physiological and biochemical changes in postharvest plant organs. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in accelerated senescence due to high temperatures in tobacco leaves during curing need further elaboration. We studied molecular mechanisms of senescence in tobacco leaves exposed to high temperature during curing (Fresh, 38 °C and 42 °C), revealed by isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) for the proteomic profiles of cultivar Bi'na1. In total, 8903 proteins were identified, and 2034 (1150 up-regulated and 1074 down-regulated) differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) were obtained from tobacco leaf samples. These DAPs were mainly involved in posttranslational modification, protein turnover, energy production and conversion. Sugar- and energy-related metabolic biological processes and pathways might be critical regulators of tobacco leaves exposed to high temperature during senescence. High-temperature stress accelerated tobacco leaf senescence mainly by down-regulating photosynthesis-related pathways and degrading cellular constituents to maintain cell viability and nutrient recycling. Our findings provide a valuable inventory of novel proteins involved in senescence physiology and elucidate the protein regulatory network in postharvest organs exposed to high temperatures during flue-curing.The association between polymorphisms in HOTAIR gene and cancer susceptibility has been analyzed intensively, but the conclusions are inconsistent. Therefore, we carried out a meta-analysis aiming to assess the relationship exactly. Eligible studies were searched in PubMed and Embase databases up to October 31, 2019. Odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were used to assess the strength of association. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias were applied to evaluate the reliability of the study. Moreover, TSA was conducted to estimate the robustness of the results. Totally, 116 studies involving 122,832 subjects were analyzed in our meta-analysis. Significant increased risk of cancer was detected for the rs4759314, rs920778, rs1899663, rs12826786 and rs874945 polymorphisms. Further subgroup analyses according to cancer type revealed that different polymorphisms were associated with the risk of specific type of cancer. For example, the rs4759314 polymorphism was significantly associated with the risk of estrogen-dependent cancer, whereas the rs920778 polymorphism was associated with the risk of gastrointestinal cancer.
