The emergence of these senescence-related markers preceded the dramatic decline in primordial follicle reserve observed. Whole Genome Oxidative Bisulfite Sequencing (WGoxBS) found no genome-wide or genomic context-specific DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation changes with advancing age. These findings suggest that cellular senescence may contribute to ovarian aging, and thus, declines in ovarian follicular reserve. Cell-type-specific analyses across the reproductive lifespan are needed to fully elucidate the mechanisms that promote ovarian insufficiency.Repetitive, monotonic, and effortful voluntary muscle contractions performed for just a few weeks, i.e., resistance training, can substantially increase maximal voluntary force in the practiced task and can also increase gross motor performance. The increase in motor performance is often accompanied by neuroplastic adaptations in the central nervous system. While historical data assigned functional relevance to such adaptations induced by resistance training, this claim has not yet been systematically and critically examined in the context of motor performance across the lifespan in health and disease. A review of muscle activation, brain and peripheral nerve stimulation, and imaging data revealed that increases in motor performance and neuroplasticity tend to be uncoupled, making a mechanistic link between neuroplasticity and motor performance inconclusive. We recommend new approaches, including causal mediation analytical and hypothesis-driven models to substantiate the functional relevance of resistance training-induced neuroplasticity in the improvements of gross motor function across the lifespan in health and disease.Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with neural processing deficits affecting early automatic and later conscious processing. Event-related Potentials (ERPs) are high resolution indices of automatic and conscious processing, but there are no meta-analyses that have examined automatic and conscious ERPs in PTSD across multiple paradigms. This systematic review examined 69 studies across affective and non-affective auditory and visual paradigms. Individuals with PTSD were compared to trauma-exposed and non-trauma controls on ERPs reflecting automatic (N1, P1, N2, P2) and conscious (P3, LPP) processing. Trauma exposure was associated with increased automatic ERP amplitudes to irrelevant auditory information. PTSD further showed increased automatic and conscious allocation of resources to affective information, reduced automatic attending and classification as well as reduced attention processing and working memory updating of non-affective information. Therefore, trauma exposure is associated with enhanced early processing of incoming stimuli, and PTSD with enhanced processing of affective stimuli and impaired processing of non-affective stimuli. This review highlights the need for longitudinal ERP studies in PTSD, adopting standardized procedures and methodological designs.MHealth interventions are extensively used to inform and remind women about cervical cancer and their upcoming screening appointments. Our scoping review aims to examine the effectiveness these interventions targeted to increase the uptake of cervical cancer screening along with its barriers and facilitators. We searched 4 databases (PsycINFO. PUBMED, CINAHL, and MEDLINE) for studies that were published between January 1, 2009 and October 2019. References were further screened manually for additional papers. Studies were included in the review if they used interventions including phone calls, text messages and mobile applications as their primary strategy to contact women. We identified 12 unique studies that met the inclusion criteria; seven were international studies. Most studies sent multiple messages (informative and reminder) and/or made numerous phone calls (manual/automated) to inform participants about cervical cancer screening, their nearest screening clinic, and their upcoming appointments. Five studies documented a significant increase in the uptake of cervical cancer screenings during the follow-ups conducted within 12 months. Qualitative studies suggested participants prefer particular communication mediums, and they were concerned about privacy and confidentiality issues when text messages were sent with their health information. Findings suggest mHealth interventions may be an effective strategy to reach women for improving their cervical cancer uptake. Barriers including transportation cost, inaccessibility, and inability to come for walk-in appointments in the health clinics need to be addressed, beyond reminders, in mobile phone-based interventions to facilitate their presence in their next appointment.Alternative splicing is an essential molecular mechanism that increase the protein diversity of a species to regulate important biological processes. As a transcription factor, Interleukin-2 enhancer binding factor 2 (ILF2) regulates the functions of interleukin-2 (IL-2) at the levels of transcription, splicing and translation, and plays other critical roles in the immune system. ILF2 is well-documented in vertebrates, while little is currently known in crustacean species such as the Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). In the present study, five cDNA for spliced isoforms of Lv-ILF2 were identified, in which four of them are the full-length long isoforms (Lv-ILF2-L1, Lv-ILF2-L2, Lv-ILF2-L3 and Lv-ILF2-L4) and one of them is a truncated short isoform (Lv-ILF2-S). The whole sequence of ILF2 gene from L. vannamei was obtained, which is 11,680 bp in length with 9 exons separated by 8 introns. All five isoforms contain a domain associated with zinc fingers (DZF). Two alternative splicing types (alternativectively, our study here supplied the first evidence for a novel splicing mechanism of ILF2 transcripts, and provided a functional link between the Lv-ILF2 isoforms and the capacity against pathogenic Vibrio in penaeid shrimp. The growing spread of dengue, chikungunya and Zika viruses demand the development of new and environmentally safe control methods for their vector, the mosquito Aedes aegypti. This study aims to find novel larvicidal agents from mutualistic (endophytic and rhizospheric) or edaphic bacteria that have no action against non-target organisms. Eleven out of the 254 bacterial strains tested were able to kill Ae. Topoisomerase inhibitor aegypti larvae. Larvicidal activity did not depend on presence of cells, since culture supernatants or crude lipopeptide extracts (CLEs) killed the larvae. Bacillus safensis BacI67 and Bacillus paranthracis C21 supernatants were the best performing supernatants, displaying the lowest lethal concentrations (LC50 = 31.11 µL/mL and 45.84 µL/mL, respectively). Bacillus velezensis B64a and Bacillus velezensis B15 produced the best performing CLEs (LC50 = 0.11 mg/mL and 0.12 mg/mL, respectively). Mass spectrometry analysis of CLEs detected a mixture of surfactins, iturins, and fengycins. The samples tested were weakly- or non-toxic to mammalian cells (RAW 264.
