The Importance of Understanding Evolution

These criticisms often focus on the notion that the concept of natural selection is a circular argument: A favorable trait must be present before it can be beneficial to the population, and a favorable trait will be preserved in the population only if it is beneficial to the general population. Critics of this view claim that the theory of the natural selection isn't an scientific argument, but merely an assertion of evolution.

A more sophisticated criticism of the theory of evolution focuses on its ability to explain the evolution adaptive characteristics.
