OCCUPATIONAL APPLICATIONSIn recent years, various upper limb exoskeletons have been developed aiming to support industrial workers for a range of tasks and reduce risks of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Most commercially available upper limb exoskeletons are passive systems that use compliant elements such as springs or elastic components to store and release energy to assist the user's motion. In contrast, many active exoskeletons, which are typically comprised of one or more powered actuators to provide joint assistance, are still in the research and development stages. Nevertheless, the functions and efficacy of various exoskeleton systems need to be further compared and assessed. This study presents a model-based approach to evaluate different designs of passive and active assistance and demonstrates the benefits of both assistance methods in an overhead lifting task. In addition, the modeling and simulation indicate the potential advantages of using the active assistance, based on electromyography.Metabolism affects the development, progression, and prognosis of various cancers, including breast cancer (BC). Our aim was to develop a metabolism-related long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) signature to assess the prognosis of BC patients in order to optimize treatment. Metabolism-related genes between breast tumors and normal tissues were screened out, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to investigate metabolism-related lncRNAs. In total, five metabolism-related lncRNAs were enrolled to establish prognostic signatures. Kaplan-Meier plots and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves demonstrated good performance in both training and validation groups. read more Further analysis demonstrated that the signature was an independent prognostic factor for BC. A nomogram incorporating risk score and tumor stage was then constructed to evaluate the 3 - and 5-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) in patients with BC. In conclusion, this study identified a metabolism-related lncRNA signature that can predict RFS of BC patients and established a prognostic nomogram that helps guide the individualized treatment of patients at different risks. The main objective of this study is to find out the anti-SARS-CoV-2 potential of emetine by using molecular docking and dynamic simulation approaches. Interestingly, molecular docking studies suggest that Emetine showed significant binding affinity toward Nsp15 (-10.8 kcal/mol) followed by Nsp12 (-9.5 kcal/mol), RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, RdRp (-9.5 kcal/mol), Nsp16 (-9.4 kcal/mol), Nsp10 (-9.2 kcal/mol), Papain-like protein (-9.0 kcal/mol), Nsp13 (-9.0 kcal/mol), Nsp14 (-8.9 kcal/mol) and Spike Protein Receptor Domain (-8.8 kcal/mol) and chymotrypsin-like protease, 3CLpro (-8.5 kcal/mol), respectively, which are essential for viral infection and replication. In addition, molecular dynamic simulation (MD) was also performed for 140 ns to explore the stability behavior of the main targets and inhibitor complexes as well as the binding mechanics of the ligand to the target proteins. The obtained MD results followed by absolute binding energy calculation confirm that the binding of emetine at the level of the various receptors is more stable. The complex EmetineNSP15, mechanistically was stabilized as follows Emetine first binds to the monomer, after, binds to the second inducing the formation of a dimer which in turn leading to the formation of complex that simulation stabilizes it at a value less than 5 Å. Overall, supported by the powerful and good pharmacokinetic data of Emetine, our findings with clinical trials may be helpful to confirm that Emetine could be promoted in the prevention and eradication of COVID-19 by reducing the severity in the infected persons and therefore can open possible new strategies for drug repositioning. While the overall health system burden of alcohol is large and increasing in Canada, little is known about how this burden differs by sociodemographic factors. The objectives of this study were to assess sociodemographic patterns and temporal trends in emergency department (ED) visits due to alcohol to identify emerging and at-risk subgroups.
We conducted a retrospective population-level cohort study of all individuals aged 10 to 105 living in Ontario, Canada. We identified ED visits due to alcohol between 2003 and 2017 using defined International Classification of Diseases, 10th edition, codes from a pre-existing indicator. We calculated annual age- and sex-standardized, and age- and sex-specific rates of ED visits and compared overall patterns and changes over time between urban and rural settings and income quintiles.
There were 829,662 ED visits due to alcohol over 15 years. Rates of ED visits due to alcohol were greater for individual living in the lowest- compared to the highest-income quintile nesed over time, which offers an imperative and opportunity for further interventions by clinicians and policy makers.
Alcohol harms display unique patterns with the highest burden in rural and lower-income populations. Rural-urban and income-based disparities differ by age and sex and have increased over time, which offers an imperative and opportunity for further interventions by clinicians and policy makers. The field of robot-assisted physical rehabilitation and robotics technology for providing support to the elderly population is rapidly evolving. Lower limb robot aided rehabilitation and assistive technology have been a focus for the engineering community during the last three decades as several robotic lower limb exoskeletons have been proposed in the literature as well as some being commercially available. Numerous manufacturing techniques and materials have been developed for lower limb exoskeletons during the last two decades, resulting in the design of a variety of robot exoskeletons for gait assistance for elderly and disabled people. One of the most important aspects of developing exoskeletons is the selection of the most appropriate proper material. The material selection strongly influences the overall weight and performance of the exoskeleton robot. The most suitable fabrication method for material is also an important parameter for the development of lower limb robot exoskeletons. In addition to the materials and manufacturing methods, the actuation method plays a vital role in the development of these robot exoskeletons.
