In overall terms, a subjectively more agreeable treatment was observed in group 1.Occupational heat stress directly hampers physical work capacity (PWC), with large economic consequences for industries and regions vulnerable to global warming. Accurately quantifying PWC is essential for forecasting impacts of different climate change scenarios, but the current state of knowledge is limited, leading to potential underestimations in mild heat, and overestimations in extreme heat. We therefore developed advanced empirical equations for PWC based on 338 work sessions in climatic chambers (low air movement, no solar radiation) spanning mild to extreme heat stress. Equations for PWC are available based on air temperature and humidity, for a suite of heat stress assessment metrics, and mean skin temperature. Our models are highly sensitive to mild heat and to our knowledge are the first to include empirical data across the full range of warm and hot environments possible with future climate change across the world. Using wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) as an example, we noted 10% reductions in PWC at mild heat stress (WBGT = 18°C) and reductions of 78% in the most extreme conditions (WBGT = 40°C). Of the different heat stress indices available, the heat index was the best predictor of group level PWC (R2 = 0.96) but can only be applied in shaded conditions. The skin temperature, but not internal/core temperature, was a strong predictor of PWC (R2 = 0.88), thermal sensation (R2 = 0.84), and thermal comfort (R2 = 0.73). The models presented apply to occupational workloads and can be used in climate projection models to predict economic and social consequences of climate change.
Scars exposed on the body surface lead to a large psychological burden on patients. However, no satisfactory scar treatments exist. Botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin that has been widely applied in the plastic and cosmetic surgery field. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin in scar management.

PubMed, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, MEDLINE, and Web of Science were searched for randomized controlled trials that evaluated the efficacy of botulinum toxin injections in preventing postoperative scars and improving scars quality and were published prior to Dec. 29, 2020. The outcome indicators were the visual analog scale score, Vancouver scar scale score, Stony Brook scar evaluation scales score, scar width, patient self-assessment results, and complications.

Together, these developments suggest a shift in the dominant form of the desiring subject in contemporary U.S. culture, one that breaks with the subject-form that Foucault theorized five decades ago.

This retrospective study used patient cohorts with advanced non-small cell lung cancer from a nationwide, de-identified electronic health record (EHR)-derived database. Disease burden information abstracted manually was classified into response categories anchored to discrete therapy lines (per patient-line). In part1, we quantified the feasibility and reliability of data capture, and estimated the association between rwR status and real-world progression-free survival (rwPFS) and real-world overall survival (rwOS). In part2, we investigated the correlation between published clinical trial overall response rates (ORRs) and real-world response rates (rwRRs) from corresponding real-world patient cohorts.

Aim of the study was to evaluate the surgical, clinical and audiological outcome of 32 implantations of the Bonebridge, a semi-implantable transcutaneous active bone conduction implant.

In a retrospective cohort study, we analyzed data for 32 implantations in 31 patients (one bilateral case; seven age < 16years) with conductive or mixed hearing loss, malformations, after multiple ear surgery, or with single-sided deafness as contralateral routing of signal (CROS).

Four implantations were done as CROS. Five cases were simultaneously planned with earprosthesis anchors, and 23 implantations (72%) were planned through three-dimensional (3D) "virtual surgery." In all 3D-planned cases, the implant could be placed as expected. For implant-related complications, rates were 12.5% for minor and 3.1% for major complications.
