Materials & methods Databases were searched to identify relevant trials. Data were extracted to evaluate overall survival, progression-free survival, overall response rate and grade ≥3 adverse events. Results The pooled analysis demonstrated that lenvatinib significantly improved progression-free survival (hazard ratio 0.43; 95% CI 0.23-0.80; p = 0.008), overall survival (hazard ratio 0.85; 95% CI 0.75-0.97; p = 0.013) and overall response rate (relative risk 6.89; 95% CI 2.22-21.36; p = 0.001) compared with control therapy. However, the use of lenvatinib can increase the risk of severe infection. Conclusion Lenvatinib-containing regimens are associated with better progression-free survival, overall survival and overall response rate, but can induce severe infection. In the present review, 182 antifouling (AF) natural products from marine microorganisms, algae and marine invertebrates reported from August 2014 to May 2020 are presented. Amongst these compounds, over half were isolated from marine-derived microorganisms, including 70 compounds from fungi and 31 compounds from bacteria. The structure-relationship of some of these compounds is also briefly discussed. Based on the work reported, a general workflow was drafted to refine the procedures for the commercialization of any novel AF compounds. Finally, butenolide, which is considered a potential environmentally friendly antifoulant, is used as a case study to show the procedures involved in AF compound work from the aspect of discovery, structure optimization, toxicity, stability, AF mechanism and coating incorporation, which highlight the current challenges and future perspectives in AF compound research. The brain is one of the most frequent sites of metastases in lung cancer patients, whose prognosis is related to the histological, biomolecular and clinical features of the disease. Over the years, the survival has improved significantly with the introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), but there are limited data concerning their efficacy in patients with brain metastases. The aim of this review is to describe the biological mechanisms supporting the use of immunotherapy for brain metastases and the outcomes experienced by lung cancer patients with brain involvement enrolled in Phase III registration trials of ICIs. We also review retrospective data on ICIs alone or combined with brain radiotherapy, and indicate future directions for preclinical and clinical research.Aim This initial study was conducted with the aim of constructing an accurate nomogram for gastric marginal zone lymphoma patients. Methods Data from 4414 patients diagnosed with gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma from 2004 to 2015 were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database. Multivariate analyses were conducted for the construction of the nomogram. learn more Results Age, sex, race, marital status, Ann Arbor stage and radiotherapy were significantly associated with overall survival, while age, marital status, Ann Arbor stage, surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy were independent prognostic predictors of cause-specific survival. Stratified analysis indicated that radiotherapy alone resulted in better overall survival and cause-specific survival than chemotherapy alone. However, the present study also has several limitations; for example, patients' Helicobacter pylori infection status and the chemotherapy regimen used were unknown. Conclusion This study constructed and validated an accurate prognostic nomogram for gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma patients.A Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based assay was used to screen the FDA-approved compound library against the MERS-CoV helicase, an essential enzyme for virus replication within the host cell. Five compounds inhibited the helicase activity with submicromolar potencies (IC50, 0.73-1.65 µM) and ten compounds inhibited the enzyme with micromolar potencies (IC50, 19.6-502 µM). The molecular operating environment (MOE) was used to dock the identified inhibitors on the MERS-CoV helicase nucleotide binding. Strong inhibitors docked well in the nucleotide-binding site and established interactions with some of the essential residues. There was a reasonable correlation between the observed IC50 values and the MOE docking scores of the strong inhibitors (r2 = 0.74), indicating the ability of the in silico docking model to predict the binding of strong inhibitors. In silico docking could be a useful complementary tool used with the FRET-based assay to predict new MERS-CoV helicase inhibitors. The identified inhibitors could potentially be used in the clinical development of new antiviral treatment for MERS-CoV and other coronavirus related diseases, including coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).This study investigated the effects of Tai Chi exercise on the psychological health and sleep quality of older adult women after exercise cessation. Nineteen Tai Chi practitioners and 20 controls completed the final tests. All participants completed the Profile of Mood States (POMS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) at 0, 24 and 28 weeks (4 weeks after Tai Chi cessation). Compared with baseline, the fatigue, depression, total mood disturbance and PSQI scores in the Tai Chi group decreased at week 24 by 18.8%, 24.7%, 5.7% and 24.6%, and the vigour score increased by 18.3%. At week 28, depression and PSQI scores in the Tai Chi group decreased by 24.0% and 20.4%, respectively. Practicing Tai Chi for 24 weeks positively affected fatigue, depression, vigour and sleep quality among older adult women. The effect on reducing depression and improving sleep quality was sustained 4 weeks after Tai Chi was stopped.
