Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency with which you need to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, has the ability to clean stairs and corners and also has large bins that will need to be emptying every so often.
There are models that mop and charge themselves This is an advantage important for families with children or pets. The top performers in our tests have great obstacles to avoid.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually as it gets full.
Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other items it might encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station and automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. -- the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or via the app.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and vacuum a specific space. Get More Information made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can wave it around like an enchanted tool.
The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets, and then pick up large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as the clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests have shown, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is an average, not an exceptional, run time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to clean most of an average-sized house however, it's not enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually can be effective). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our testing, and it often passes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top picks such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer components that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is found on all kinds of electronic gadgets for your home It's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and more. The app is easy to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests during our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be washed for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps to keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.
6. read more & Decker Robot Vacuum
Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are specifically designed for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have a wider cleaning path and an extra-large dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than the competition to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense which adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows you to view a virtual map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also track the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging with the click of a button. The app also lets you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum by using different colors, so you can clearly see which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. For example, my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border without ever registering the cliff. Also, the ability to set up the weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
