In September 2019, leaf spot was detected on jerusalem cherry plants in Yuxiu Park, Shizhong district, Jinan, Shandong Province. Field surveys were done in a 1/15 ha park. Disease incidence was estimated at approximately 18% across the survey area. Foliar symptoms began as small white spots. As the disease progressed, lesions expanded and merged, and developed into large irregular white spots, with pale grey edge. At last, lesions were densely distributed throughout the leaves. To isolate the pathogen, twenty leaf tissues (5 × 5 mm) were cut from the border between diseased and healthy tissue, surface disinfected in 75% alcohol for 15 s, soaked in 0.1% mercuric chloride for 1 min, washed with sterile distilled water three times, and cultured on potato dextrose agar (PDnd the fungus was not isolated from the control plants, thus confirming Koch's postulates. Pathogenicity tests were repeated twice. C. liaoningense can cause anthracnose in chili and mango in China (Diao et al., 2017; Li et al., 2019).To our knowledge, this is the first report of anthracnose on jerusalem cherry caused by C. liaoningense in China, which influences ornamental value and reduces market value. Identification of the causes of the disease will help develop effective strategies for managing this disease. In the past two decades, laurel wilt disease has significantly affected members of the Lauraceae in the southeast United States, causing widespread mortality of native redbay (Persea borbonia (L.) Spreng), and incidence of infections in avocado (Persea americana Mill.), sassafras (Sassafras albidum L.) and swamp bay (Persea palustris [Raf.] Sarg.) (Fraedrich et al., 2008, 2015, Olatinwo, et al. 2019). Laurel wilt is a vascular disease caused by Raffaelea lauricola (T.C. Harr., Fraedrich & Aghayeva), a fungus vectored by a non-native ambrosia beetle Xyleborus glabratus Eichhoff (Fraedrich et al. Vorinostat concentration 2008). In August 2020, we investigated the mortality of a spicebush shrub (Lindera benzoin L.) (3.8 cm diameter at root collar, two m height) located ca. 17 mi northeast of Colfax, Grant Parish, Louisiana (31.750263° N, -92.643694° W). Evaluation of the dead shrub revealed brown, persistent foliage, and black vascular discoloration of the sapwood, typical symptoms of laurel wilt (Fig. S1). Although, beetle holes were oo troilus L.). Since its first report on sassafras in 2014 (Fraedrich et al. 2015), laurel wilt has spread across Louisiana on sassafras and swamp bay (Olatinwo et al. 2019) and has been confirmed in14 parishes. This report shows the relentless nature of the disease, as the pathogen moves from one vulnerable host to the next, expanding into new locations and threatening forest ecosystems across the southern United States.Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is considered a desirable fruit in international markets and is grown throughout tropical and sub-tropical countries around the world (Alemu, 2014). Stem end rot is the most damaging and complex postharvest disease of mango, resulting in losses of up to 40% in Pakistan, which is the leading producer and exporter (Alam et al. 2017). A field survey was conducted in June of 2017 and 2018 in the Rahim Yar Khan and Multan- major mango producing regions of Punjab Province. After mature but unripe mango fruit (cv. Samar Bahisht Chaunsa) were stored at 12°C for 2 weeks to permit ripening, water-soaked, dark brown to purplish black decay began to appear around the stem end portion. The decay gradually enlarged and covered the whole fruit after 7 days. Disease incidence was estimated at 30%. Small pieces (3 to 4 mm2) from the periphery of 15 diseased fruit were surface disinfected with 1% sodium hypochlorite for 2 min, rinsed three times in sterilized distilled water, air dried, and then pla end. Reisolations from symptomatic fruit following the procedures described above for isolating and identifying the fungal cultures from infected field samples, consistently yielded a fungus identical to L. pseudotheobromae. Control fruit remained disease-free. Although L. pseudotheobromae was previously reported on several forest and fruit trees (Alves et al. 2008; Awan et al. 2016), this is the first report of the pathogen causing stem end rot disease of mango in Pakistan. This report is important for the new studies aiming at management of stem end rot disease of mango caused by L. pseudotheobromae in Pakistan.Sonchus arvensis (Asteraceae) is a traditional medicinal herb. The aerial parts are a rich source of vitamins, essential amino acids, and minerals, which may help in treatment of fever, inflammation, detoxication, and blood circulation (Li et al. 2018). In October 2018, typical rust symptoms were observed on S. arvensis leaves and stems in Buner district, Malakand division, Khyber PakhtunKhwa Province, Pakistan (34.39°N; 72.61°E). Almost 40% of leaves and stems of five S. arvensis plants displayed severe rust. The specimens were examined microscopically and compared with type specimen description in published literature (Dietel 1908; Hiratsuka et al. 1992). The fungus was identified as Puccinia crepidis-japonicae based on the characteristic of spore morphology and phylogenetic study based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) sequence data. Uredinia were amphigenous, rounded, or somewhat elliptical, naked, small patches, equally spread, brown. Urediniospores (n=30) were globose to eno other reports of this fungus on any other hosts in Pakistan. The specimen has been vouchered in LAH Herbarium, Department of Botany, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan (LAH36343). This is the first report of P. crepidis-japonicae on S. arvensis as a new host from Pakistan.Social endorsement cues (SEC) offer information about how online users have engaged and evaluated online content. Some view that SEC thus can serve as useful heuristics when users evaluate the credibility of news content on social media. At the same time, SEC can be manipulated by a variety of commercial and political actors on social media. This study examines whether SEC influence individuals' credibility judgments of political news on social media, and how the salience of concerns that SEC can be manipulated by others can undermine the perceived credibility. Using an experiment, we found that SEC had a negative influence on news credibility, regardless of whether or not SEC manipulability concerns were primed. An independent effect of SEC manipulability concerns was also found, such that priming thoughts about the manipulability of SEC led participants to rate the news post as less credible, regardless of whether that post included SEC. These results suggest a spillover effect whereby concerns over the manipulation of SEC can create doubt about the authenticity of other cues from the news (e.
