the purpose of this study was to determine the frequency and to evaluate maternal and perinatal prognosis during pregnancy and childbirth among married child students in the city of Niamey.

we conducted a case-control study of gestants and parturients at the Issaka Gazobi Maternity Hospital in Niamey over the period January 2018-December 31, 2018. Child students (<18 years) were compared to students aged 18-27 years. Maternal sociodemographic parameters and maternal and perinatal mortality were analyzed. The usual statistics and logistic regression were used to analyze the results. The significance level was set at p <0.05.

the frequency of delivery among child students was 3.06%. Minors attended prenatal follow-up (46.7% vs 41.9%) more diligently than adults. Cesarean section (ORa=2 [1.0-3.0]) eclampsia (ORa=2 [1.0-4.4]), episiotomy (ORa=2[1.2-1.8]) and neonatal depression (p <0.05 (10.6% vs 5.8%)) were higher among minors than among adults. Perinatal mortality was high in both groups.

our results are close to those described in other European and African studies. The differences in obstetric and perinatal risks seem to be related to socio-demographic factors of child mothers. These should be taken into account in any approach to the prevention of pregnancy complications in minors.

It can affect any bone in the body, however craniofacial fibrous dysplasia is characterized by specific clinical manifestations, progression and therapeutic issues. The purpose of our study was to describe the diagnostic, therapeutic and evolutionary features of craniofacial FD. This study involved six patients with craniofacial FD followed up in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Principal Hospital of Dakar. The average age of patients was 26.16 years, ranging from 11 to 58 years. Sex ratio favoured women (83% of the cases). Bone deformity was the main feature of craniofacial FD leading to diagnosis. One patient presented with unilateral nasal obstruction with epistaxis. learn more In all cases, scanner enabled diagnosis and topographic balance. Two female patients underwent surgery. One case of recurrence was reported. Craniofacial FD is a rare bone disease that can manifest as serious sensory and functional disorders. It poses real therapeutic issues; hence adequate interdisciplinar management is essential.
metabolic steatopathy or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is frequently associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with an increased risk of progression to advanced fibrosis. The purpose of our study was to determine the interest of hepatic steatosis index (HSI) in the detection of hepatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes in order to establish an appropriate screening program of this disease in our population.

cross-sectional study involving 281 type 2 diabetics hospitalized in the Department of Endocrinology in collaboration with the Hepato-gastroenterology Department at the University Hospital Ibn Rochd Casablanca between January 2018 and June 2018. Anthropometric variables studied were, biological, hepatic steatosis index (HSI) and liver ultrasound. The HSI score of> 36 predicted the presence of fatty liver. The HSI score (fatty liver index) was calculated for all patients using the following formula 8 × (ALT / AST) + BMI + 2 (if type 2 diabetes) + 2 (if female). Statistical ve value (NPV) was 90.91%, specificity was 95.24%, and positive predictive value (PPV) was 94.49%. AUROC for HSI was at 0.979 (95% CI, 0.962-0.997).

hepatic steatosis is common among our patients; it is correlated with dyslipidemia, obesity and hypertriglyceridemia.

Its estimated incidence is 1 case per 15 000 to 18 000 births. The purpose of this study is to highlight the epidemiological and clinical features of this disease as well as its management in Burkina Faso. We conducted a retrospective study over a period of 5 years at the Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hospital Center. The average age of patients was 33 months, with predominance of male sex (68.75%). Exophthalmia was the most frequent reason for consultation (59.37%). The predominant pattern was unilateral (75%) associated with eye protrusion (59.38%). Chemotherapy associated with surgery was the treatment of choice, with a 5-year survival rate of 34.37%. Retinoblastoma is one of the most common cancers in children younger than 5 years. In our low-income country this disease is diagnosed late. Patients´ management is complex and is commonly associated with poor prognosis. Mortality and morbidity from this disease are disproportionate in our country facing a shortage of technical equipment. In our low-income country, patient´s management should be based on early detection of the disease as well as on adequate treatment.
in Senegal, the fight for newborn and child survival is a public health priority. The aim of this study is to analyze the factors associated with neonatal deaths in Senegal in 2017.

this article used data from the Senegal Demographic and Health Survey 2017. It covered 6073 children under the age of 5. The sample from the 2017 Continuous DHS is nationally representative. A bivariate analysis was conducted. The multivariate analysis was performed using STATA 15 software. Adjusted odds ratios had been calculated for variables with significant p values. The dependent variable was neonatal death.

a total of 6,073 children had been investigated. The neonatal death rate is 2.12%. Neonatal deaths account for 50.97% of all infant and child deaths. Newborns with a low birth weight < 2500 g are 2.3 times more likely to die with an ORaj of 2.3 [1.01-5.28]. Newborns who are considered "very small" by their mother at birth are 2.5 times more likely to die in the neonatal period ORaj=2.5 [1.04-6.04]. The last risk factor identified is birth by caesarean section (ORaj=3.
