These defects arise due to mutations associated with specific gene(s) especially the ones associated with key metabolic enzymes. These enzymes or their product(s) are involved in various metabolic pathways- leading to accumulation of intermediary metabolite(s), which reflects their toxic effects upon mutations. The diagnosis of these metabolic disorders is based on the biochemical analysis of the clinical manifestations produced and its molecular mechanism. It is therefore imperative to devise diagnostic tests with high sensitivity, and specificity for early detection of IEM. Recent advances in biochemical and polymerase chain reaction based genetic analysis along with pedigree and prenatal diagnosis can be life saving in nature. Latest development in exome sequencing for rapid diagnosis and enzyme replacement therapy would be expected to facilitate the successful treatment of these metabolic disorders in future. Although the long-term clinical implications of these genetic manipulations are still a matter of debate among the intellectuals and is a matter of further research.
Neonatal jaundice is a common neonatal disease which had adverse effect in the neonates especially preterm neonates when the level of indirect bilirubin is high enough to pass the blood brain barrier causing bilirubin encephalopathy or kernicterus.

The aim of this study is to investigate the value of zinc (Zn) supplementation in preterm neonates with jaundice and if it will be beneficial or not.

A prospective randomized clinical trial (RCT) study, identification number is TCTR20200504007, which was done at Tanta University Hospital (TUH) from July 2016 to March 2018 on 200 preterm neonates suffering from neonatal jaundice. The studied neonates were divided into 2 groups group 1, which received Zn and phototherapy, and group 2, which received phototherapy only and did not take Zn. In the group 1, 100 preterm neonates with jaundice received Zn as 0.6 ml(cm3 ) of zinc origin/kg/day orally through oro/nasogastric tube divided into 2 doses (/12 hours) which is equal 1.2 mg elemental zinc/kg/day orally for 10 day.

There was no significant difference in serum bilirubin between the 2 groups in the 2nd, 4th and 6th day of admission while the serum bilirubin was significantly decreased in neonates who were treated by Zn and phototherapy in group 1, compared with neonates of group 2 who were treated with phototherapy only in the 8th , 9th and 10th day of admission where the p value was 0.045* ,0.027* and 0.004* respectively.

Zn administration in jaundiced preterm neonates is beneficial in decreasing serum bilirubin.

Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a chronic disease characterized by widespread body pain, weakness in certain parts of the body (critical points), low pain tolerance, sleep disturbances, and fatigue. This syndrome is considered rare in Jordan.

The research aimed to find out the association of the angiotensin converting enzyme, methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, and vitamin D receptor (ACE, MHFTR, and VDR, respectively) genotypes with FMS among Jordanian patients.

This work included 22 FM patients and 22 healthy individuals of Jordanian Arabic origin. The ACE rs4646994, MTHFR rs1801133, and VDR rs2228570 genotypes were determined using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by restriction fragment length polymorphism.

No associations between ACE rs4646994, MTHFR rs1801133, and VDR rs2228570 with the vulnerability of a person for the development of FMS were found. However, we found an association between the ACE rs4646994 genotype and restless leg among FM patients.

Based on result from this study, it appears that the ACE rs4646994 genotype is associated with restless leg among FMS patients of Jordanian origin. Further clinical investigations with larger sample sizes are required to confirm these findings and to understand the molecular mechanism of ACE rs4646994 genetic variant in the restless leg syndrome among FM patients.

However, they cannot be produced by the human organism, so intake must be through the diet. Vitamin deficiency causes the onset of different diseases, ranging from pellagra to pernicious anemia, which can be corrected by reintroducing the missing vitamin form. Pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate ammonium To supply the right amount of vitamins to the body, every vitamin naturally occurring in foodstuff has been identified, extracted and synthetically produced, thus allowing either food fortification with these compounds or their pharmaceutical production. Furthermore, the increased importance attributed nowadays to body wellness and the pursuit of a permanent status of health at all costs has greatly encouraged a high consumption of vitamin supplements in modern society, since vitamin deficiencies may be responsible for adverse or toxic effects. However, excess vitamins can induce hypervitaminosis. In the USA, a national survey confirmed that 52% of adult Americans takections.
The worldwide spread of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has exposed healthcare workers (HCWs) to physical and mental disorders both directly and indirectly related to the pandemic. Italy was the first European country affected by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and Italian HCWs have presented adverse psychological outcomes related to work and emotional overload and the fears of becoming infected and infecting others, particularly loved ones.

We report the case of a 61-year-old HCW who likely infected her husband with SARS-CoV-2, leading to his death. We assessed the depressive and anxious symptoms that the patient experienced after the death of her husband, which were characterized by a deep sense of guilt, psychological pain, and thoughts of death.
