To determine the association between PTSD symptoms due to prior trauma and prior trauma type with PTSD symptoms after suspected acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

A consecutive sample of patients presenting to the emergency department (ED) for suspected ACS were surveyed. Logistic regression was used to estimate the odds of elevated ACS-related PTSD symptoms [PCL-S≥33] at 1-month associated with PTSD symptoms due to prior trauma and prior trauma type at the time of suspected ACS, adjusting for demographics, comorbidities, depression, and etiology of ACS symptoms.

Of 984 patients, 81.6% reported ≥1 prior trauma type and 22.5% reported PTSD symptoms due to prior trauma at the time of suspected ACS. One month later, 18.0% had ACS-related PTSD symptoms. Patients with versus without PTSD symptoms due to prior trauma at the time of the suspected ACS had increased odds of ACS-related PTSD symptoms one month later (42.1% vs 9.9%; aOR 4.49, 95% CI3.05-6.60; p<.001). Prior life-threatening illness was the only trauma type significantly associated with ACS-related PTSD symptoms (aOR 1.57, 95% CI1.03-2.39; p=.04).

This study was carried out to assess the current environmental state of the lagoon as well as historical inputs of pollutants over several decades. Three sediment cores were collected and analyzed for the determination radionuclide activities (210Pb, 226Ra, 238U and 137Cs) by gamma spectrometry and element concentrations by Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry. Age-depth relationships were established in two cores using 210Pb and 137Cs as chronometer and time-marker, respectively, and Constant Rate of Supply as radiometric dating model. 210Pb and 238U were present in sediment in activities much higher than those reported for non-contaminated coastal systems. Sediment accumulation rates showed a slight increase over time with a depth-averaged value of 0.16 g cm-2 y-1. Enrichment Factors and practically derived sediment quality guidelines were used to assess sediment contamination/pollution and toxicological effects linked with the measured concentrations of sediment-bound elements. This adds the symbiovar trifolii which is well-established in the Egyptian soils to the list of symbiovars that form nodules in P. vulgaris.Current clinical practice algorithms for HPV testing make no effort to discern the impact of genotypes for patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC). Data was collected for all patients with HNSCs that had undergone HPV testing at an academic hospital as part of clinical care (2012-2019). Screening was performed using real-time PCR targeting L1 of low and high-risk HPV types, followed by genotyping of positive cases. Genotype status was correlated with age, site and histologic parameters. Of the 964 patients tested, 68% had HPV-positive cancers. Most arose from the oropharynx (OP) (89%) and sinonasal tract (5%). The most frequent genotype was 16 (84.4%) followed by 35 (5.6%), 33 (4.1%), 18 (2.7%), 45 (1.1%), 69 (0.8%) and others (1.3%). There was an association between genotype (16 vs non-16) and tumor origin (OP vs non-OP) (p less then 0.0001). HPV18 was associated with transformation to an aggressive small cell phenotype, but HPV16 was not (22% vs 0%, p less then 0.0001). Patients with HPV-non-16 OP carcinomas were older than patients with HPV16 OP carcinomas, but the difference was not significant.
