The effort to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has relied heavily on the general public's compliance with health guidelines limiting social contact and mitigating risk when contact occurs. The aim of this study was to identify latent variables underlying adherence to COVID-19 guidelines and to examine demographic and psychological predictors of adherence. A sample of US adults (N = 1,200) were surveyed in late April to mid-May 2020. The factor structure of adherence was examined using exploratory factor analysis. Machine learning regression models using elastic net regularization were used to examine predictors of adherence. Two factors characterized adherence avoidance and cleaning. Elastic net models identified differential demographic and psychological predictors of these two forms of adherence. Religious affiliation, denial coping, full-time employment, substance use coping, and being 60 or older predicted lower avoidance adherence. Behavioral and mindfulness emotion regulation skills, agreeableness, and Democrat political affiliation predicted greater avoidance adherence. For cleaning adherence, interpersonal and behavioral emotion regulation skills and conscientiousness emerged as strong predictors of greater cleaning. Efforts to promote compliance with COVID-19 health guidelines may benefit from distinguishing avoidance and cleaning adherence and considering predictors of each of these aspects of adherence.Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries, as part of the post-lithium-ion batteries (post-LIBs), are expected to deliver significantly higher energy densities. Their power densities, however, are today considerably worse than that of the LIBs, limiting the Li-S batteries to very few specific applications that need low power and long working time. With the rapid development of single cell components (cathode, anode, or electrolyte) in the last few years, it is expected that an integrated approach can maximize the power density without compromising the energy density in a Li-S full cell. Here, this goal is achieved by using a novel biomass porous carbon matrix (PCM) in the anode, as well as N-Co9 S8 nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the cathode. The authors' approach unlocks the potential of the electrodes and enables the Li-S full pouch cells with unprecedented power densities and energy densities (325 Wh kg-1 and 1412 W kg-1 , respectively). This work addresses the problem of low power densities in the current Li-S technology, thus making the Li-S batteries a strong candidate in more application scenarios.Despite the rapid development of CsPbIx Br3- x (0 ≤ x ≤ 3) inorganic perovskite solar cells, associated with their superior thermal stability, their low moisture stability limits their commercial deployment. In this study, 1D-2D-3D multidimensional coupled perovskites are prepared by means of an in situ self-integration approach. This pioneering method allows incorporating thus far unreported 1D-Tpy2 Pb3 I6 and 2D-TpyPb3 I6 (Tpy; terpyridine) perovskites. Heterojunction perovskites demonstrate superior stability against water in comparison with control 3D CsPbI2 Br, which is related to the hydrophobicity of low-dimension (LD) perovskites. Remarkably, the spontaneous involvement of LD perovskites can adjust/reconstruct the interfacial structure. Navitoclax This modification allows releasing the residual strain, establishing effective charge transfer channels that increase the carrier transport ability. Accordingly, 1D-2D-3D hybrid CsPbI2 Br perovskite solar cells demonstrate a stabilized power conversion efficiency as high as 16.1%, which represents a very significant improvement, by a factor of 43%, with respect to control 3D CsPbI2 Br perovskite solar cell. Equally importantly, the multidimensional coupled perovskite solar cells exhibit extraordinary stability, well above 1000 h in ambient atmosphere.Synchronous treatment of two lung lesions using a single-isocenter volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) plan can decrease treatment time and reduce the impact of intrafraction motion. However, alignment of both lesions on a single cone beam CT (CBCT) can prove difficult and may lead to setup errors and unacceptable target coverage loss. A Restricted Single-Isocenter Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (RESIST) method was created to minimize setup uncertainties and provide treatment delivery flexibility. RESIST utilizes a single-isocenter placed at patient's midline and allows both lesions to be planned separately but treated in the same session. Herein is described a process of automation of this novel RESIST method. Automation of RESIST significantly reduced treatment planning time while maintaining the benefits of RESIST. To demonstrate feasibility, ten patients with two lung lesions previously treated with a single-isocenter clinical VMAT plan were replanned manuallimplemented clinically. Further development of a-RESIST for more than two lung lesions and refining this approach for extracranial oligometastastic abdominal/pelvic SBRT, including development of automated simulated collision detection algorithm, merits future investigation.
Resting cerebral blood flow (CBF) and perfusion measures have been used to determine brain health. Studies showing variation in resting CBF with age and fitness level using different imaging approaches have produced mixed findings. We assess the degree to which resting CBF measures through transcranial Doppler (TCD) and arterial spin labeling (ASL) MRI provide complementary information in older and younger, fit and unfit cohorts.
Thirty-five healthy volunteers (20 younger 24±7y; 15 older 66±7y) completed two experimental sessions (TCD/MRI). Aging and fitness effects within and between imaging modalities were assessed.
Middle cerebral artery blood velocity (MCAv, TCD) was lower and transit time (MRI) slower in older compared with younger participants (p<.05). The younger group had higher gray matter cerebral perfusion (MRI) than the older group, albeit not significantly (p=.13). Surprisingly, fitness effects in the younger group (decrease/increase in MCAv/transit time with fitness, respectively) opposed the older group (increase/decrease in MCAv/transit time).
