PURPOSE Acute, isolated intracranial dissection (ICD) represents a rare and challenging cause of acute stroke. DSA is considered to be the gold standard imaging modality in patients with ICD. The role of novel, high-resolution (HR) compressed-sensing (CS) time-of-flight (TOF) MRA techniques in ICDs is unclear. METHODS A 22-year-old male patient with an isolated right ICA/MCA intracranial dissection underwent "conventional" 3-T TOF MRA, HR CS TOF MRA and also DSA including digital rotational angiography. RESULTS Unlike the "conventional" TOF MRA, HR CS TOF MRA provided comparable image quality to rotational angiography and a dissection membrane was clearly visible in both techniques. CONCLUSION In this single case study, we demonstrated the feasibility of a novel HR CS TOF in a case of an acute isolated intracranial ICA/MCA dissection, which needs to be validated in a larger case series.Intracranial arterial stenosis is a frequently misdiagnosed cause of ischemic stroke, associated with high rates of recurrence under medical therapy alone. Endovascular intracranial angioplasty and stenting has increasingly been used worldwide for treatment of symptomatic intracranial stenoses, despite controversial results of the first randomized trials. Lesion morphology and etiology must be considered during endovascular treatment planning. Complex morphologies can lead to serious complications during the endovascular procedure. We present a case of a symptomatic complex middle cerebral artery stenosis that was successfully treated with a double stenting in T configuration, using a safety micro-guidewire technique. During follow-up, intracranial Doppler revealed a non-significant residual stenosis and the patient remained asymptomatic. The term neurodegenerative diseases include a long list of diseases affecting the nervous system that are characterized by the degeneration of different neurological structures. Among them, Alzheimer disease (AD), Parkinson disease (PD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are the most representative ones. The vast majority of cases are sporadic and results from the interaction of genes and environmental factors in genetically predisposed individuals. Among environmental conditions, electromagnetic field exposure has begun to be assessed as a potential risk factor for neurodegeneration. In this review, we discuss the existing literature regarding electromagnetic fields and neurodegenerative diseases. Epidemiological studies in AD, PD, and ALS have shown discordant results; thus, a clear correlation between electromagnetic exposure and neurodegeneration has not been demonstrated. In addition, we discuss the role of electromagnetic radiation as a potential non-invasive therapeutic strategy for some neurodegenerative diseases, particularly for PD and AD.We conducted a series of studies to validate a new scale of stigma toward anal sex, culturally tailored to cisgender men who have sex with men (MSM). In Study 1 we conducted in-depth interviews (N = 35) to generate items. In Study 2, we reduced the item pool through an online survey (N = 268), testing scale performance, dimensionality, and convergent and discriminant validity. For Study 3, we recruited another online sample (N = 1605), randomized to exploratory or confirmatory factor analyses to finalize item reduction, then assessed validity among sexually active MSM (n = 1263). Final subscales encompassed self-stigma (6 items, Cronbach's α = .72), provider stigma (5 items, Cronbach's α = .79), and omission of information (6 items, Cronbach's α = .73; full 3-factor scale = .80). We developed a 17-item measure, grounded in the lived experience of cisgender MSM. Future work should examine associations with health-seeking behavior.Cardiac arrhythmia is an irregular heart rhythm that can lead to serious heart conditions and various organ disorders, and may cause sudden cardiac death. Catalpol belongs to the iridoid glycoside family and is highly abundant in Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch. The study included five groups such as group I (normal control), group II (treatment control), group III (low-dose treatment), group IV (medium-dose treatment) and group V (high-dose treatment). We investigated the therapeutic effects of catalpol on cardiac arrhythmia in human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Cell viability, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant activity, and caspase-3 and caspase-9 activities and protein levels were measured in normal control, treatment control, and treated (1, 10, and 100 µM) iPSC groups. Compared with the treatment control group, catalpol supplementation (1, 10, and 100 µM) increased iPSC cell viability by 7.5, 27.3, and 65.8%, respectively; reduced the LDH levels by 10.4, 31.3, and 75.2%, respectively; and reduced the lipid peroxidation levels by 7.7, 33.0, and 62.6%, respectively. The antioxidant levels were significantly higher in the treatment control group than in the normal control group. Catalpol (100 µM) reduced the caspase-3 and caspase-9 activities by more than 30% and increased expression of the corresponding proteins by more than 50%. These findings suggest that the naturally occurring iridoid glycoside catalpol is effective against aconitine-induced cardiac arrhythmia in iPSCs.PURPOSE To explore patients' and professionals' experiences with fertility navigators in female oncofertility care. METHODS Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with nine female cancer patients and six healthcare professionals to explore their experiences. They were recruited from an academic medical center (referral clinic for female fertility preservation care). Data were analyzed using the concepts of grounded theory. RESULTS Patients were satisfied about the supportive role of the fertility navigator in their fertility preservation process fertility navigators added value as they became "familiar faces" and provided information, emotional support, personal care, and served as patients' primary contact person. check details The fertility navigators had a pleasant collaboration with professionals and supported professionals by taking over tasks. To improve the role of fertility navigators, it was suggested that they should always be present in fertility preservation counseling, and attention should be paid to their availability to improve continuity of care.
