Herein, we demonstrate an optimized fabrication strategy toward a reliable ITO/TiO2/AuNP photoanode by sequential deposition of TiO2/Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrates. The identified fabrication conditions include spin-coating tetraisopropyl titanate on ITO slices followed by in situ electrodeposition of Au NPs and finally the thermal annealing treatment. By the conjugation of the thiolated hairpin NH2-DNA sequence and CdTe quantum dots (QDs) onto the thus-prepared photoanodes, a novel PEC sensor for the ultrasensitive detection of miRNA was constructed. The proposed PEC sensor offered advantages including simple structure, storage stability and excellent detection reproducibility as well as sensitivity and specificity toward miRNA-21. Finally, we found that this PEC displayed a broad detection linear range of 1.0 fM to 1.0 nM with a low detection limit of 0.37 fM. This PEC sensor can also excellently discriminate the mismatched miRNA. Moreover, the PEC sensor also showed a satisfactory result in normal human serum sample analysis. These findings emphasized the importance of basic photoactive matrixes for the fabrication of PEC sensors, providing solid fundamental insights for future application of metal oxide substrates for other PEC applications, especially PEC biosensors.
Late-night salivary cortisol (LNSC) measured by enzyme immunoassay (EIA-F) is a first-line screening test for Cushing syndrome (CS) with a reported sensitivity and specificity of >90%. However, liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, validated to measure salivary cortisol (LCMS-F) and cortisone (LCMS-E), has been proposed to be superior diagnostically.

Social determinants and health inequalities have a huge impact on health of populations. It is important to study their role in the management of the Covid-19 epidemic, especially in cities, as certain variables like the number of tests and the access to health system cannot be assumed as equal. The aim of this work was to determine the relation of social determinants in the incidence of Covid-19 in the city of Barcelona.

An observational retrospective ecological study was performed, with the neighbourhood as the population unit, based on data of cumulative incidence published at May 14th, 2020 by the Public Health Agency of Barcelona. However, there are no studies comparing the short-term outcomes between LDPPHRt and laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD). The present study aimed to evaluate the differences in the intraoperative data, postoperative data, short-term complications, and 90-day mortality rates between LDPPHRt and LPD in the management of pancreatic-head benign or low-grade malignant tumors. MATERIAL AND METHODS Between January 2016 and December 2019, 15 LDPPHRt and 39 LPD procedures were performed. The preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative data were retrospectively analyzed and compared. RESULTS All of the patients received laparoscopic procedures successfully and without conversion. There were no differences in the patients' age, body mass index, American Society of Anaesthesiologists score, preoperative examination results, preoperative initial symptoms, comorbidities, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative stay, short-term complications, 30-day readmission rates, or 90-day mortality rates.
