Elements of a Research Paper-Before exploring the various elements of a research paper, let’s define a research paper. A research paper requires you to investigate a particular topic; evaluate primary and secondary sources to gather information on the topic; organize your information; use your critical thinking skills to analyze the subject; and draft your information into a well-organized paper. Themes can be divided into two categories: a work's thematic concept is what readers "think the work is about" and its thematic statement being "what the work says about the subject".). Remember that theme refers to the deeper meaning or message a writer discusses throughout a text.
