Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) in childhood is an eminently curable disease. Excellent outcomes can be achieved even in resource-limited settings and increasingly, the focus is on limiting long-term toxicity. Contemporary treatment incorporates a risk-stratified, response-adapted approach using multiagent chemotherapy with or without low-dose radiotherapy (RT). Many developing countries continue to use ABVD (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastin, and dacarbazine)-based regimen owing to limited acute toxicity, cost, and ease of delivery. Roscovitine We report outcomes of children with early-stage HL using limited cycles of ABVD-based treatment in the first prospective multicentric collaborative study from India InPOG-HL-15-01.

Children <18years with biopsy-proven HL were enrolled. Patients with stages I and IIA with or without bulky disease were classified as having early-stage disease. Patients were planned to receive four cycles of ABVD subject to satisfactory early response assessment (ERA) scheduled after two cycles of chemotherapy. RT was limited to patients with bulky disease or those with suboptimal ERA.

Four hundred ten patients were enrolled over 30months from 27 centers. One hundred thirty-four were classified as having early-stage disease. Fifty-three (40%) of these had bulky disease. One hundred ten (83%) of this cohort achieved complete or very good partial ERA. Fifty-four (40%) received RT. At a median of 52months since diagnosis, 5-year event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) is 94% and 95.5%, respectively. Treatment-related mortality and abandonment were <1%.

Ras-related protein Rab-27A (RAB27A) and Ras-related protein Rab-27B (RAB27B) have been verified to be closely related to the development of many tumors. Since the role of both RAB27A and RAB27B in BCa have not been reported, we intended to explore the function and mechanism of RAB27A and RAB27B in BCa development. Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction revealed that RAB27A/B showed high expression in BCa tissues and cells. Cell counting kit-8, wound healing and Transwell assays as well as western blot analyses revealed that silencing RAB27A/B suppressed BCa cell proliferation, migration and invasion as well as the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process. Based on bioinformatics analysis and our experiments, microRNA-186-5p (miR-186-5p) was found to be the upstream miRNA of RAB27A/B in BCa. MiR-186-5p expression was significantly downregulated in BCa cells and tissues. MiR-186-5p directly targeted the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of RAB27A/B and downregulated both mRNA and protein levels of RAB27A/B in BCa cells. MiR-186-5p overexpression suppressed BCa cell proliferation, migration and invasion as well as the EMT process in vitro and inhibited tumor growth in vivo. Overexpressing RAB27A/B rescued the inhibitory effect of miR-186-5p on malignant phenotypes of BCa cells. Furthermore, miR-186-5p inactivated the phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase (PI3K)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway by downregulating the expression of RAB27A/B, as shown in western blot analysis. Overall, miR-186-5p suppressed BCa cell proliferation, migration, invasion and EMT process and inhibited xenograft tumor growth by targeting RAB27A/B to inactivate the PI3K/MAPK signaling.
To explore the incidence of workplace violence against nurses in Chinese hospitals.

Previous systematic reviews on the incidence of workplace violence against Chinese health care workers did not include many articles published in Chinese. Although several studies have investigated cases of violence against health care providers in China, no meta-analysis has been conducted to assess the incidence of violence against Chinese nurses.

In this study, relevant data were retrieved from studies published up to July 2020. A meta-analysis was conducted using R software (Version 4.0).

The 12-month incidence of workplace violence among Chinese nurses was 71% (95% CI 67%-75%), and verbal violence was the most common sub-type of violence (63%, 95% CI 58%-67%).

Chinese nurses are at a high risk of violence at workplace. Hospital managers should explore ways to reduce violence against their employees, especially the younger nurses who work in secondary hospitals.

The findings of this study highlight the need to enhance the legal system in terms of laws meant to effectively mitigate violence against nurses in Chinese hospitals. Measures should be particularly taken to protect younger nurses who work in secondary hospitals.
