Quill of Acceptance and Book of Admittance
Mereka diciptakan oleh para pendiri Hogwarts, sebelum pembuatan kastil Hogwarts bahkan selesai. Sekarang ini, mereka berada di sebuah menara kecil yang terkunci.
Quill of Acceptance: Ada yang mengatakan bahwa Pena ini terbuat dari bulu Augurey dan botol tinta tempatnya berada kosong. Akan tetapi, diketahui bahwa Pena ini memiliki kemampuan untuk menulis. Beberapa penyihir mengetahui mengapa hal ini bisa terjadi, tapi tak ada yang mau menjelaskan.
Book of Admittance: Sampulnya berasal dari kulit naga berwarna hitam dan ia bertanggung jawab untuk tidak squib untuk masuk ke Hogwarts.
Bagi orang-orang yang telah menganalisis kinerja Buku dan Pena tersebut, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa si pena jauh lebih toleran dibanding si Buku. Gumpalan kecil sihir, bagi si Pena, adalah cukup. Sementara si buku biasanya akan menutup dirinya, menolak untuk ditulisi oleh si pena sampai ia menerima bukti yang jelas akan kemampuan sihir seorang anak. Contoh: Neville Longbottom, Ia hampir saja gagal masuk ke Hogwarts karena tak berhasil menunjukkan secara jelas kemampuan sihirnya sampai ia berhasil selamat dari jatuh di ketinggian yang harusnya membuat dia mati.
