The existence of contaminants in food poses a serious threat to human health. In recent years, aptamer sensors (aptasensors) have been developed rapidly for the detection of food contaminants because of their high specificity, design flexibility, and high efficiency. However, the development of high-throughput, highly sensitive, on-site, and cost-effective methods for simultaneous detection of food contaminants is still restricted due to multiple signal overlap or mutual interference and cross-reaction between different analytes with similar molecular structures. To overcome these problems, this Review summarizes some effective strategies from the articles published in recent years about multiplexed aptasensors for the simultaneous detection of food contaminants. This work focuses on the application of multiplexed aptasensors to simultaneously detect antibiotics, pathogens, and mycotoxins in food. These aptasensors mainly contain fluorescent aptasensors, electrochemical aptasensors, surface-enhanced Raman scattering-based aptasensors, microfluidic chip aptasensors, and paper-based multiplexed aptasensors. In addition, this Review also covers the application of nucleic acid cycle amplification and nanomaterial amplification strategies to improve the detection sensitivity. Finally, the limitations and challenges in the design of multiplexed aptasensor are also taken into account. The radioactive isotopes scandium-44/47 and lutetium-177 are gaining relevance for radioimaging and radiotherapy, resulting in a surge of studies on their coordination chemistry and subsequent applications. Although the trivalent ions of these elements are considered close homologues, dissimilar chemical behavior is observed when they are complexed by large ligand architectures due to discrepancies between Lu(III) and Sc(III) ions with respect to size, chemical hardness, and Lewis acidity. Here, we demonstrate that Lu and Sc complexes of 1,4-bis(methoxycarbonyl)-7-[(6-carboxypyridin-2-yl)methyl]-1,4,7-triazacyclononane (H3mpatcn) and its corresponding bioconjugate picaga-DUPA can be employed to promote analogous structural features and, subsequently, biological properties for coordination complexes of these ions. The close homology was evidenced using potentiometric methods, computational modeling, variable temperature mass spectrometry, and pair distribution function analysis of X-ray scattering data. Radiochemical labeling, in vitro stability, and biodistribution studies with Sc-47 and Lu-177 indicate that the 7-coordinate ligand environment of the bifunctional picaga ligand is compatible with biological applications and the future investigation of β-emitting, picaga-chelated Sc and Lu isotopes for radiotherapy.
Nurses must be adequately prepared for safe medication administration.
The specific aims of the study were to compare first- and final-semester nursing students' medication administration performance, describe graduating nursing student performance, assess the long-term effect of an Individual Simulation-Based Experience (ISBE), and determine if nursing assistant experience impacted performance.
The study was a longitudinal, descriptive, experimental, 2-group pretest-posttest design. Seclidemstat The Medication Administration Safety Assessment Tool was used to assess nursing student (n = 68) medication administration performance at 3 points in time after learning the skill, after participation in an ISBE or traditional practice session, and prior to graduation.
Only one-third of senior nursing students accurately demonstrated medication administration. There was no significant difference between first- and last-semester performance.
Findings suggest nursing students are not prepared for safe medication administration upon graduation. The reality of practice opportunities to perform this skill throughout a nursing program should be examined.

Contemporary studies have described the rotational mechanism in patients with slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). However, there have been limited patient imaging data and information to quantify the rotation. Determining whether the epiphysis is rotated or translated and measuring the epiphyseal displacement in all planes may facilitate planning for surgical reorientation of the epiphysis.
(1) How does epiphyseal rotation and translation differ among mild, moderate, and severe SCFE? (2) Is there a correlation between epiphyseal rotation and posterior or inferior translation in hips with SCFE? (3) Does epiphyseal rotation correlate with the size of the epiphyseal tubercle or the metaphyseal fossa or with epiphyseal cupping?
We identified 51 patients (55% boys [28 of 51]; mean age 13 ± 2 years) with stable SCFE who underwent preoperative CT of the pelvis before definitive treatment. Stable SCFE was selected because unstable SCFE would not allow for accurate assessment of rotation given the completed metaphyseal fossa.
Level III, prognostic study.
Level III, prognostic study.Alfred Gysi was one of the most influential dental scientists of the last century. He is primarily considered a pioneer of modern articulation and occlusion theory, and several of his technical developments still bear his name. But what milieu did this dentist come from, what characterized his academic career and what research contributions did he make beyond the theory of articulation? How was he perceived by contemporary experts – as a researcher and as a colleague – and how can his scientific contributions be classified from today's perspective? These are precisely the questions that this article examines. The study is based on contemporary primary sources and on Gysi's own publications. In addition, a systematic re-analysis of the available secondary literature on the life and work of Alfred Gysi and on the history of the Zurich Dental Institute was carried out. The analysis shows that Gysi had a strong influence on contemporary dental prosthodontics and contributed considerably to its scientific character, especially due to the development of articulators and face bows, which received worldwide attention.
