Chaith sí ceithre bliana i gColáiste Chroí Mhuire sa Spidéal agus rinne céim B.A. i gColáiste Ollscoile na Gaillimhe 1958–1962. Chaith sí bliain amháin den tréimhse sin ag obair i Sasana. Phós sí Cathal Ó Luain ar 27 Nollaig 1969. Rugadh mac amháin dóibh. Fuair sí bás den ailse ar 6 Meitheamh 1982 agus tá sí curtha i mBóthar na Bruíne, Baile Átha Cliath.
