The power to utilize magic involving the dead, life-force and/or souls. Practitioners of this trade are known as Necromancers. Form of Magic and Dark Arts. Opposite to Animancy.

Capability :

The user's magical abilities revolve around manipulating the dead, death, the life-force and/or souls for good (i.e., resurrecting the dead), evil (in various ways) or neither. Users can also use communicate with the deceased – either by summoning their spirit as an apparition or raising them bodily – for the purpose of divination, imparting the means to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge.

Many practitioners find a way to cheat death one way or another, whether by becoming some form of undead creature or by passing their own ability to die.

Necromancy itself is a well-known ability in the wizarding world as one of the dark arts. However, the ability itself is already existed in ancient times including several different versions of mythology. The word necromancy ( νεκρομαντεία ) came from ancient greek which means "dead body (nekros / νεκρός )" and "prophecy / divination ( manteia / μαντεία )

Believer in medieval era believed by using necromancy, they are able to accomplish three important things, which include :

Will manipulation, affect the will of other creatures.
Illusion, giving a vision of something that doesn't exist just like death.
Knowledge, having a better mind than others including future-reading.

Muggle Myth :

Some believe, the power of necromancy was already there since the era of the gods and goddeses. List of some of the known gods/goddeses who had the power of necromancy:

1. Hades / Pluto, in greek/roman mythology, Hades was known as the king of the underworld which also included the death. However, everything related to death is on his territory including talking to souls and summoning death body.
2. Hecate / Trivia, according to greek/roman mythology, Hecate is the goddess of magic. Everything about magic including dark magics and forbidden witchcraft is her area which also meant, as a dark magic, necromancy is on her area.
3. Melinoe, the goddess of ghost.
4. Hel, according to norse mythology, Hel has the same power as Hades. She is the goddess of the underworld, the controller of death and lost soul.
5. Anubis, based on egypt mythology, anubis is the god of mummification and afterlife. Which is obvious why he has the power of necromancy since he is the ruler of afterlife.
Osiris, he is the god of egyptian mythology who has the exact same power as Hades and hel.

Power :

- Summon and banish the death, giving the user endless advantange on using the death. If used by a powerful necromancer, the death can be used to fight and predict the future.
- Communicate telepathically with death
- Release soul
- Turning someone into ghost and touch ghost
- Sense death, the user is capable of knowing if someone is death or not.

Menurut saya sendiri, Necromancy adalah salah satu sihir hitam yang bertujuan untuk mengendalikan mayat orang yang sudah mati untuk digunakan sebagai media untuk melakukan sesuatu.

Necromancer biasanya melakukan sebuah ritual untuk melakukan prosesi ini. Karena hal ini sangat buruk, banyak orang yunani kuno yang menganggap Necromancy sebagai salah satu sihir aliran hitam.

Melakukan Ritual Necromancy atau penggunaan mayat ini bias membahayakan banyak orang. Baik itu Necromancer-nya atau orang yang terlibat dalam ritual tersebut. Biasanya untuk membangkitkan mayat ini dibutuhkan orang hidup lain untuk dikorbankan. Kalau kamu pernah melihat ritual ang dilakukan seorang penyembuh ninja untuk menyelamatkan Gaara (saya lupa nama neneknya siapa), kurang lebih seperti itu. Tapi yang dikorbankan disini bukanlah Necromancernya tapi orang lain. Jadi istilahnya adalah membunuh orang untuk menghidupkan orang lain.

Bedanya necromancy dengan inferi adalah bahwa Necromancer menggunakan ritual dan syarat yang amat banyak dan sulit dilakukan, sementara inferi hanya membutuhkan mantra dan pemicu untuk ‘membangunkannya’

Bedanya necromancy dan reinkarnasi adalah bahwa necromancy menggerakkan mayat untuk bisa melakukan sesuatu, tapi reinkarnasi adalah pengulangan kehidupan di masa datang. Dalam hal ini sering kita dengar istilah ‘jangan – jangan kita pernah ketemu di kehidupan sebelumya?’. Yah seperti itulah gambaran reinkarnasi. Tapi dalam agama saya nggak ada tuh yang namanya reinkarnasi. Yang ada kalau udah mati ya selesailah dia di muka bumi ini.
