Based on the outcomes, the paper provides marketing communication practices targeting this young generation cohort to raise awareness so that Gen Z'ers may react effectively if these symptoms are observed and, thus, request medical assistance.In the present study, a simple, rapid, and reliable bioanalytical method was developed using liquid chromatography with tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to quantify 2',4',6'-trihydroxyacetophenone (THAP) in rat and dog plasma with 2',4',6'-trihydroxybenzaldehyde as an internal standard (IS). The LC-MS/MS instrument was operated in the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode to detect THAP at m/z transition 166.89 > 82.8 and IS at 152.89 > 82.8, respectively. #link# A simple, one-step protein precipitation (PP) method was employed with acetonitrile for sample preparation. Utilizing a Gemini C18 column, THAP and IS were separated with an isocratic mobile phase consisting of 10 mM ammonium acetate and methanol (1090, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.2 mL/min. Total chromatographic run time was 2.5 min per sample injection. The standard calibration curve for THAP was linear (r2 ≥ 0.9987) over the concentration range of 0.1 to 100 µg/mL with the lower limit of quantitation (LLOQ) of 0.1 µg/mL (S/N ratio > 10). According to the regulatory guidelines from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), our newly developed biomedical analytical method was fully and adequately validated in terms of selectivity, sensitivity, linearity, intra- and inter-day precision and accuracy, recovery, matrix effect, stability, and dilution integrity. Our validated assay was successfully utilized in a nonclinical pharmacokinetic study of THAP in rats and dogs.
Despite the sustained high prevalence of smoking among Indonesian adult men, little is known about possible protective factors in this group. This study examined the relationship between key characteristics of masculinity (e.g., fatherhood status, being the main breadwinner or sole provider for the family) and current smoking behaviours (smoking status and cigarettes smoked per day (CPD)) among Indonesian men aged 18-49 years.

In total, 2540 Indonesian men aged 18-49 participated in the United Nations Multi-Country Study on Men and Violence, 2012. Fatherhood status was categorised into three groups nonfathers, new fathers and more experienced fathers. The association between fatherhood status and current smoking, as well as fatherhood status and cigarettes smoked per day (CPD), was estimated by employing logistic and zero-inflated negative binomial regressions, respectively.

In January 2019, a 35-year-old man, a wood merchant from Kissidougou, Forest Guinea, presented himself at several health centers with persistent fever, frequent vomiting and joint pain. He was repeatedly treated for severe malaria, and died three weeks later in Mamou regional hospital. Differential diagnosis identified LASV as the cause of death. No secondary cases were reported. The complete LASV genome was obtained using next-generation sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis showed that this strain, namely the Kissidougou strain, belongs to the clade IV circulating in Guinea and Sierra Leone, and is thought to have emerged some 150 years ago. Due to the similarity of symptoms with malaria, Lassa fever is still a disease that is difficult to recognize and that may remain undiagnosed in health centers in Guinea.Background The Paulownia Clone in Vitro 112, known as oxytree or oxygen tree, is a hybrid clone of the species Paulownia elongata and Paulownia fortunei (Paulowniaceae). OTX008 is a fast-growing hybrid cultivar that can adapt to wide variations in edaphic and climate conditions. In this work, Paulownia Clone in Vitro 112 leaves were separated into an extract and four fractions (A-D) differing in chemical content in order to investigate their chemical content using LC-MS analysis. The extract and fractions were also evaluated for their anticoagulant and antioxidant properties in a human plasma in vitro. Results The Paulownia leaf extract contained mainly phenolic compounds (e.g., verbascoside), small amounts of iridoids (e.g., aucubin or 7-hydroxytometoside) and triterpenoids (e.g., maslinic acid) were also detected. Our results indicate that the extract and fractions have different effects on oxidative stress in human plasma treated with H2O2/Fe in vitro, which could be attributed to differences in their chemical content. For example, the extract and all the fractions, at the two highest concentrations of 10 and 50 µg/mL, significantly inhibited the plasma lipid peroxidation induced by H2O2/Fe. Fractions C and D, at all tested concentrations (1-50 µg/mL) were also found to protect plasma proteins against H2O2/Fe-induced carbonylation. The positive effects of fraction C and D were dependent on the dose. Conclusions The extract and all four fractions, but particularly fractions C and D, which are rich in phenolic compounds, are novel sources of antioxidants, with an inhibitory effect on oxidative stress in human plasma in vitro. Additionally, the antioxidant potential of fraction D may be associated with triterpenoids.Starch is a water-insoluble polymer of glucose synthesized as discrete granules inside the stroma of plastids in plant cells. Starch reserves provide a source of carbohydrate for immediate growth and development, and act as long term carbon stores in endosperms and seed tissues for growth of the next generation, making starch of huge agricultural importance. The starch granule has a highly complex hierarchical structure arising from the combined actions of a large array of enzymes as well as physicochemical self-assembly mechanisms. Understanding the precise nature of granule architecture, and how both biological and abiotic factors determine this structure is of both fundamental and practical importance. This review outlines current knowledge of granule architecture and the starch biosynthesis pathway in relation to the building block-backbone model of starch structure. We highlight the gaps in our knowledge in relation to our understanding of the structure and synthesis of starch, and argue that the building block-backbone model takes accurate account of both structural and biochemical data.
