Surgery remains the most common treatment for TGCT, however, there may be an increasing role for adjuvant therapies, including the new targeted agents. Weighing the side effects of these treatments against the symptomatic benefit on a patient-by-patient basis in this benign disease remains critical.Why people seek help is a question shared by both health psychologists and scholars of spiritual healing. This overlap, however, has gone unexplored. This article shows convergence between health help-seeking behaviours in spiritual healing and secular professional health services. It does so by drawing on the archival records from the Panacea Society in Bedford, England, which began an international healing ministry by post-amassing over 120,000 correspondents from 93 different countries. Archives from the Panacea Society's Healing Department containing records of the self-reported effects of the prescribed water-taking healing ritual were used to investigate variables related to help-seeking for health problems through spiritual healing. A sample of over 10% of the available records (n = 7192) contained data from 40,627 letters written over a 73-year period from 48 different countries. In line with research from health psychology, and specifically the Health Belief Model, findings showed that those who were older, female, and receiving perceived benefits from treatment were more likely to engage in help-seeking.Tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD) is one of the most famous dioxin families that is hazardous to humans and the environment. Designing cheap and novel catalysts for its detecting and removing is an essential need for the environment. In this work, DFT + VdW is used to investigate the potentiality of proposed catalysts in adsorbing and dissociating TCDD. P-type and N-type charge carrier effects on the adsorption process are modeled by doping of B/Al and N/P atoms in the graphene. Al-doped graphene, with - 1.27 eV adsorption energy, has the highest possibility to adsorb TCDD. P-type dopants have higher interactions with TCDD in comparing with N-type dopants. Introducing positive and negative charges on the studied complexes shows that in all complexes, the driving force of complexation is π-π stacking except for the Al-doped graphene. Dissociative adsorption studies show that unlike literature data, chlorine atoms on the surface of studied catalysts are not dissociated from TCDD, and instead, C-O bonds in TCDD are dissociated symmetrically and asymmetrically. Data show that Al-doped graphene is the best catalyst for symmetrical dissociation, and pure graphene is the best one for asymmetrical dissociation of TCDD.Objective To describe the prevalence of depression among patients with primary systemic vasculitides (PSV); compare prevalence according to vasculitis type and against controls; and examine the impact of depression on PSV outcomes. check details Methods We searched Medline, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science using a predefined protocol in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. We included all studies that reported the prevalence or impact of depression in PSV. We also included polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) given its association with giant cell arteritis (GCA). Meta-analyses of prevalence estimates were performed using random-effects models and reported as percentages (95% confidence interval). Results We reviewed a total of 15 studies that described the prevalence of depression, categorised into small (n = 10) and large vessel vasculitis (n = 7). Pooled prevalence estimate for depression in a small vessel (predominantly ANCA-associated) vasculitis was 28% (95% CI 20-38%) with significant heterogeneity (I2 = 93%). Depression prevalence in large-vessel vasculitis (Takayasu and GCA/PMR) was 24% (95% CI 17-34%), again with significant heterogeneity (I2 = 96%). One study reported 56% prevalence of depression in medium vessel disease. The prevalence of depression in small vessel vasculitis was higher than healthy controls. In these patients, depression and depressive symptoms were associated with poorer quality of life, adherence, and work disability, but not disease activity or damage. Conclusion Depression is highly prevalent among patients with primary systemic vasculitis and associated with poorer outcomes across a range of measures in studies of small vessel disease. Further studies are needed for depression in medium and large vessel vasculitides.Background Delayed diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI) is common because the changes in renal function markers often lag injury. We aimed to find optimal non-invasive hemodynamic variables for the prediction of postoperative AKI and AKI renal replacement therapy (RRT). Methods The data were collected from 1,180 patients who underwent cardiac surgery in our hospital between March 2015 and Feb 2016. Postoperative central venous pressure (CVP), mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate, PaO2, and PaCO2 on ICU admission and daily fluid input and output (calculated as 24 h PFO) were monitored and compared between AKI vs. non-AKI and RRT vs non-RRT cases. Results The AKI and AKI-RRT incidences were 36.7% (n = 433) and 1.2% (n = 14). Low cardiac output syndromes (LCOSs) occurred significantly more in AKI and RRT than in non-AKI or non-RRT groups (13.2% vs. 3.9%, P 5%) were 0.763 and 0.886, respectively. Conclusion The volume-associated hemodynamic variables, including CVP on ICU admission, LCOS, and 24 h PFO after surgery could predict postoperative AKI and AKI-RRT.Negative symptoms in the motivational domain are strongly correlated with deficits in social and occupational functioning in schizophrenia. However, the neural substrates underlying these symptoms remain largely unknown. Twenty-eight adults with schizophrenia and twenty healthy volunteers underwent functional magnetic resonance while completing a lottery game designed to capture reward-related cognitive processes. Each trial demanded an initial investment of effort in form of key presses to increase the odds of winning. Brain activity in response to different reward cues (1 euro versus 1 cent) was compared between groups. Whereas controls invested more effort in improving their chances to win 1 euro compared to 1 cent in the lottery game, patients invested similarly high amounts of effort in both reward conditions. The neuroimaging analysis revealed lower neural activity in the bilateral caudate and cingulo-opercular circuits and decreased effective connectivity between reward-associated areas and neural nodes in the frontoparietal and salience network in response to high- versus low-reward conditions in schizophrenia patients compared to controls.
