This research paper examines how contouring of a wheelchair seating base can help prevent pressure sores by distributing pressure over the buttocks. Contouring wheelchair cushioning is already done to some extent and has proved to be beneficial for pressure distribution. We researched the effect of contouring the seating base, and whether contouring the seating base affects effectiveness in pressure distribution and perceived discomfort.

13 healthy participants performed a within-subject experiment with three differently contoured seating bases. Perceived comfort and seating pressure were measured for each condition.

Results indicate that a more contoured base is positive for both comfort and increased pressure distribution.

Contoured seating bases can provide increased comfort and improved pressure distribution over flat seating bases. Future research should examine the effect of contouring on stability, as well as compare the effects of contoured seating bases and contoured cushions.Implications forour in the seating is conventionally created by shaping the cushions, this research shows the possibility of using a hard base underneath a cushion to create the desired contour.Employees with caregiving responsibilities often experience work-life interference (WLI), particularly when caring for either disabled persons and/or children. This study examines sample of 288 working Australians from the AWALI national survey data, who care for at least one family member or friend with long-term physical or mental illness, disability, or aging-related problems. We investigated the role of unpaid work at home in predicting WLI, based on a model that included indirect association via inferred causes for working unpaid hours at home and a conditional direct relationship based on number of children. The findings supported our prediction that unpaid work at home is positively associated with WLI but its effect is moderated by number of children. There was a conditional direct effect where employees with care responsibilities experienced a stronger relationship between unpaid hours and WLI when having more children. Further, when the perceived reason for unpaid work was excessively demanding work, the relationship with WLI was stronger. Implications for workers with multiple caregiving responsibilities are discussed.The primary goal of air quality policies is to reduce the impact of air pollution on human health, in particular, it is very important in the attainment-closing geographic areas with densely populated like Taiwan. Air quality policies in general only consider the reduction of emission as well as concentration, in order to highlight the effects of air pollution reduction responded on human health, a health index using PM2.5 concentration reductions (HI-cr) was adopted to evaluate air quality policies in this study. To investigate priorities of cross-administrative region air quality policies, the HI-cr were calculated by using annual results of atmospheric modeling and air quality modeling, which involved the meteorological effect and spatial distribution of air pollution. By studying the emission reduction targets of three administrative regions, Taichung, Changhwa, and Nantau in the Central Taiwan, 8 reduction scenarios were designed and examined. It is found that HI-cr can present detailed information in huive air quality policies could be evaluated using HI-cr, it could highlight the high performance on population health improvement rather than high concentration reduction. Interactions with healthcare workers can provide effective entrance into treatment, ensuring retention and lifelong recovery for individuals with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Healthcare providers approach the challenges of patient management with different skills, comfort levels, and viewpoints. Individuals in recovery also provide crucial perspectives relevant to the complex aspects of the drug epidemic. The purpose of this study was to determine if perceptions of SUD diverge among individuals in recovery, physicians, nurses and medical students.
A survey consisting of 29 Likert statements was deployed to physicians, nurses, medical students, and persons with SUD in recovery. Respondents were asked to rate their level of agreement on statements about SUD such as treatment, stigma, medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), naloxone kits, safe injection sites, and methamphetamine usage. Separate Welch's analysis of variances (ANOVAs) were conducted to determine differences between the respondent groupsws for important discussions on the substance use health crisis and further inquiry on why these differences exist and how the diverging viewpoints may impact the lives of persons with SUD.
Spinal-generated movement disorders are a complex group of medical conditions, frequently misdiagnosed, originating in the spinal cord or from combined peripheral and central nervous system involvement. In this case report, we describe a novel form of position-dependent dyskinesia due to severe craniocervical malformation.

An 83-year-old woman with basilar invagination at the C2 vertebra above the line of Chamberlain, occipitocervical lordosis, platybasia with a short clivus, ankylosis of the C1-C2 complex and fusion of the C1 arch developed an unusual pattern of position-dependent left arm dyskinesia triggered by bending her neck forward with simultaneous contact of the flexed elbow with a flat surface. Symptoms did not improve with anticonvulsants and she progressed and died suddenly.

If leadership is about making decisions, successful leadership is the ability to make the right decisions. This, after all, is what distinguishes a good leader from a poor one. During this pandemic we have been able to compare different leaders, drawn from across the health, political and other sectors. This article identifies how leaders behaved during this pandemic and importantly what can be learnt from their actions.
