I was tasked to create two things: a typeface, and an album cover to present my typeface on. I was given the option to redesign an existing artist’s album, so I chose Cyrus Villanueva’s ‘Cyrus’ album to redesign. The existing album cover seems rather too simplistic and seems like something made in a very short amount of time.

First and foremost, I had to create a font that I felt would be suitable for my album cover. Once the typeface was polished and finished, I would then have to present it professionally on an A3 poster.

After that, I was then required to start working on my album cover. It was made sure that I used the standard album cover size. Since I wasn’t too sure on the dimensions, I just went with a 2000x2000 pixel square and worked from there. It was also warned that I was not allowed to use any images from the internet, however I was given an exception. I had used an image of Cyrus and modelled my low-poly art from that reference image.

I had a total of 10 weeks to submit the whole project, including the typeface and the album cover.

Overall, I had to submit: an A3 poster showcasing my typeface, an A3 launch poster (featuring album cover) and the final cover designs by themselves.
