It was a dark day. The sky was clouded and grey while the wind whistled loudly through the trees. And for the Dark Moon pack, it fit the mood perfectly. Winter had hit them full force, causing the Luna and other pack members to get ill. But worst of all, the Luna was pregnant when she had gotten sick. The pack healer feared her pups wouldnt survive the birth. She explained her fears to the alpha but he scoffed bitterly. " If they cannot survive then they are too weak anyways " he huffed, immediately dismissing her. The healer, Vera, hung her head low. He had dismissed her before she could explain her other fears. Yes, the pups had a chance of dying. But what she didnt say was that the Luna, Dakota, might not survive as well. The secret hung heavy on her shoulders as the days went on. Until one day, she couldnt hide it anymore. * Thats it! * she thought with a small growl. * I must warn the alpha. * She loped towards the alphas den but froze when a pain filled howl filled the air. Seconds later, another wail broke through the heavy silence. It was too late. The Luna was giving birth.
