It is now established that, contrary to common belief, (electro-)vacuum Brans-Dicke gravity does not reduce to general relativity (GR) for large values of the Brans-Dicke coupling ω . Since the essence of experimental tests of scalar-tensor gravity consists of providing lower bounds on ω , in light of the misguided assumption of the equivalence between the limit ω → ∞ and the GR limit of Brans-Dicke gravity, the parametrized post-Newtonian (PPN) formalism on which these tests are based could be in jeopardy. We show that, in the linearized approximation used by the PPN formalism, the anomaly in the limit to general relativity disappears. However, it survives to second (and higher) order and in strong gravity. In other words, while the weak gravity regime cannot tell apart GR and ω → ∞ Brans-Dicke gravity, when higher order terms in the PPN analysis of Brans-Dicke gravity are included, the latter never reduces to the one of GR in this limit. We introduce the collaborative multi-level lot-sizing problem with cost synergies. This arises if producers can realise reductions of their costs by providing more than one product in a specific time horizon. Since producers are typically not willing to reveal critical information, we propose a decentralised mechanism, where producers do not have to reveal their individual items costs. Additionally, a Genetic Algorithms-based centralised approach is developed, which we use for benchmarking. Our study shows that this approach comes very close to the a central plan, while in the decentralised one no critical information has to be shared. We compare the results to a myopic upstream planning approach, and show that these results are almost 12% worse than the centralised ones. All solution approaches are assessed on available test instances for problems without cost synergies. For the biggest available instances, the proposed centralised mechanism improves the best known solutions on average by 10.8%. The proposed decentralised mechanism can be applied to other problem classes, where collaborative decision makers aim for good plans under incomplete information. © 2019 The Author(s). A prerequisite for fulfilling this purpose is to be able to identify the species and communities that make up that biodiversity. We tested a set of varied methods for inventory and monitoring of plants, birds and terrestrial invertebrates on a grid of 40 sites in a 938 ha study area in the Slikok Creek watershed, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. We sampled plants and lichens through observation and specimen-based methods. We surveyed birds using bird call surveys on variable circular plots. We sampled terrestrial arthropods by sweep net sampling, processing samples with High Throughput Sequencing methods. We surveyed for earthworms, using the hot mustard extraction method and identified worm specimens by morphology and DNA barcoding. We examined community membership using clustering methods and Nonmetric Multidimensional Scaling.
