We believe that this theoretical and methodological improvement in the model can improve comparisons of redundancy in different social-ecological systems. We also highlight some limitations of the URM (and our Uredit), and we believe that conscious reasons behind people's decisions should be incorporated into future studies on the subject.
The ability to compose a concise summary statement about a patient is a good indicator for the clinical reasoning abilities of healthcare students. To assess such summary statements manually a rubric based on five categories - use of semantic qualifiers, narrowing, transformation, accuracy, and global rating has been published. Our aim was to explore whether computer-based methods can be applied to automatically assess summary statements composed by learners in virtual patient scenarios based on the available rubric in real-time to serve as a basis for immediate feedback to learners.

We randomly selected 125 summary statements in German and English composed by learners in five different virtual patient scenarios. Then we manually rated these statements based on the rubric plus an additional category for the use of the virtual patients' name. We implemented a natural language processing approach in combination with our own algorithm to automatically assess 125 randomly selected summary statements and compaupposedly incorrect assessments, which will also help us to further improve the rating algorithms.
Embedding patient accommodation need in the electronic health record (EHR) has been proposed as one means to improve health care delivery to patients with disabilities. Accommodation need is not a standard field in commercial EHR software. However, some medical practices ask about accommodation need and store it in the EHR. Little is known about how the information is used, or barriers to its use. This exploratory-descriptive study examines whether and how information about patients' disability-related accommodation needs stored in patient records is used in a primary health care center to plan for care.

Four focus groups (n= 35) were conducted with staff of a Federally Qualified Health Center that asks four accommodation questions at intake for the EHR. Respondents were asked how they learned about patient accommodation need, whether and how they used the information in the EHR, barriers to its use, and recommendations for where accommodation information should reside. A brief semi-structured interview wit planning. However, the structure must enable transfer of information between scheduling and direct care and beupdatable as needs change. Flexibility to record a variety of needs, visibility to differentiate accommodation need from other alerts, and staff education about needs were recommended.

Ethnobotanical and plant-based products allow for the isolation of active constituents against a number of maladies. Monotheca buxifolia is used by local communities due to its digestive and laxative properties, as well as its ability to cure liver, kidney, and urinary diseases. There is a need to explore the biological activities and chemical constituents of this medicinal plant.

In this work, the biochemical potential of M. buxifolia (Falc.) A. DC was explored and linked with its biological activities. Methanol and chloroform extracts from leaves and stems were investigated for total phenolic and flavonoid contents. Ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS) was used to determine secondary-metabolite composition, while high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with photodiode array detection (HPLC-PDA) was used for polyphenolic quantification. In addition, we carried out in vitro assays to determine antioxidant potential and the enzyme-inhibitory response mponents to be used as a drug.
UHPLC-MS analysis and HPLC-PDA quantification identified a number of bioactive secondary metabolites of M. buxifolia, which may be responsible for its antioxidant potential and enzyme-inhibitory response. M. buxifolia can be further explored for the isolation of its active components to be used as a drug.
Childhood exposure to air pollution contributes to cardiovascular disease in adulthood. Immune and oxidative stress disturbances might mediate the effects of air pollution on the cardiovascular system, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood in adolescents. Therefore, we aimed to identify immune biomarkers linking air pollution exposure and blood pressure levels in adolescents.

We randomly recruited 100 adolescents (mean age, 16 years) from Fresno, California. Using central-site data, spatial-temporal modeling, and distance weighting exposures to the participant's home, we estimated average pollutant levels [particulate matter (PM), polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), ozone (O
), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NO
)]. We collected blood samples and vital signs on health visits. Using proteomic platforms, we quantitated markers of inflammation, oxidative stress, coagulation, and endothelial function. Immune cellular characterization was performed via mass cytometry (CyTOF). We investigthelial dysfunction as evaluated by eNOS and ICAM-1 expression and tube formation.

For the first time in adolescents, we found that ambient air pollution levels were associated with oxidative stress, acute inflammation, altered hemostasis, endothelial dysfunction, monocyte enrichment and diastolic blood pressure. TGFbeta inhibitor Our findings provide new insights on pollution-related immunological and cardiovascular disturbances and advocate preventative measures of air pollution exposure.
