The aim was to compare the transfer of dry-land strength and power (S&P) of the shoulder into thrust in front-crawl between swimmers of different competitive levels. Four elite and six sub-elite swimmers were selected to perform a dry-land or an in-water test in random order. The dry-land S&P measurements comprised mean torque, peak torque and mean power of the shoulder rotators of the dominant and non-dominant upper-limbs that were assessed on an isokinetic dynamometer at 90°/s and 180°/s. In-water mean thrust, peak thrust and peak power were collected using an in-house customised system composed of differential pressure sensors and an underwater camera during a 25 m freestyle swim at three different paces (400 m pace, 200 m pace, all-out). There were non-significant and trivial variations in dry-land S&P between elite and sub-elite swimmers. The variations were non-significant but mostly large in the case of thrust. Correlation coefficients of elite swimmers were significantly larger than sub-elite counterparts. In conclusion, elite swimmers seem to be more efficient than sub-elite swimmers at transferring dry-land S&P into thrust.Johne's disease is a chronic, contagious, zoonotic disease that affects numerous species including livestock and sometimes humans. The disease is globally distributed in sheep populations and caused by Mycobacterium avium Subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP). A previous genome-wide association study identified single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers associated with OJD serostatus in CD109, PCP4, and SEMA3D genes. A922500 order Our aim was to evaluate the same markers for association with OJD seroprevalence in Turkish sheep in a retrospective matched case-control study. The serological status for OJD in 1801 sheep was determined for four native and four composite breeds from three research flocks. One hundred eleven matched case-control pairs were constructed according to breed type and age from 1750 comingled ewes reared in the same environment. A Single Nucleotide Primer Extension (SNuPE) assay was designed to genotype PCP4-Intron 1, PCP4-3'UTR, SEMA3D, CD109-intron 2 and CD109-intron 8 markers and a McNemar's test was performed on the matched pairs. An association with these five markers was not detected with the OJD serostatus in Turkish sheep (power of detection, 0.95; odds ratio >3; McNemar's p less then .05). Thus, a wider search may be needed to identify any major underlying genetic risk factors for OJD in Turkish sheep.
The objectives of the study were to determine which parents or teachers predict attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) better in children and adolescents, and to detect both diagnostical and symptomatological agreement levels across informant reports.
A total of 417 cases aged 6-14 from a non-referred community sample were assessed by a semi-structured interview, parent- and teacher-rated ADHD Rating Scale-IV. Also, impairment criteria were taken into account to ensure the gold standard diagnosis for ADHD. The measures of sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and diagnostic accuracy were calculated in each categorical sample. Besides, the agreement between parent and teacher reports of ADHD was investigated.
Parents and teachers had similar diagnostic accuracy for predicting ADHD. Both parents and teachers predicted ADHD in similar accuracy in both boys and girls, separately. However, girls were found to be more predictable by both parents and teachers compared to boys. Parents with lower education levels had worse diagnostic accuracy than both parents with higher education levels and teachers. Low to moderate agreement and correlations between parent and teacher ADHD reports were detected.
In general, parents and teachers seem to predict ADHD in similar accuracy. Nevertheless, child gender and parental education level may alter the predictability power for ADHD. The findings can guide for clinicians that how to evaluate observation reports of parents and teachers to make accurate ADHD diagnosis in patients.

The mechanisms underlying the cross-talk between SCD1 and ceramide synthesis have not been explored. We treated colorectal cancer cells with an SCD1 inhibitor and examined the effects on gene expression, cell growth, and cellular lipid contents. The main effect of SCD1 inhibition on the fatty acid contents of colorectal cancer cells was a decrease in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) showed that the most intense alteration of gene expression after SCD1 inhibition occurred in the NF-κB signaling pathway. Further experiments revealed that SCD1 inhibition resulted in increased levels of phosphorylated NF-κB p65 and increased nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65. Treatment with an NF-κB inhibitor eliminated several effects of SCD1 inhibition, mainly including overexpression of serine palmitoyltransferase1 (SPT1), elevation of dihydroceramide contents, and suppression of cell growth. Furthermore, treatment with supplemental oleate counteracted the SCD1-induced NF-κB activation and downstream effects. In summary, our data demonstrate that the NF-κB pathway plays a role in SCD1 deficiency-induced ceramide de novo synthesis in colorectal cancer cells, and that reduced MUFA levels contribute to the course. The popularity of breast augmentation procedure has driven research and debate as to whether any given implant characteristic offers a functional advantage. One such debate exists about the role of surface texturing. In the aftermath of the recent withdrawal of aggressively textured surfaces we would like to summarize the first author's experience of nearly 1500 primary aesthetic breast augmentations with different surfaces and offer our thoughts on this topic. All consecutive primary breast augmentations operated by the first author from January 2010 to June 2019 were included. All patients had silicone implants inserted via inframammary incision. Of all the operated cases, 1029 consecutive female patients had at least 6 months' follow-up (mean 15.1 months). Their mean age was 31.2 years, mean BMI 20.8 kg/m2 and mean implant volume was 311 cc. 997(96.9%) patients had dual plane and 32(3.1%) had sub-glandular implant placement. In total 113 patients (11.0%) developed a complication. This represented 15.1% of those with round and 10.
