The detection of marker compounds was confirmed after six days in culture for all tested species. Our results show that the first stage of this approach aiming at easing exploration of plant chemodiversity was completed, and leaf tissues could offer an interesting alternative providing a constant source of natural compounds.Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei (Bgh), the causal agent of barley powdery mildew (PM), is one of the most important barley leaf diseases and is prevalent in most barley growing regions. Infection decreases grain quality and yields on average by 30%. PEG300 Multi-parent advanced generation inter-cross (MAGIC) populations combine the advantages of bi-parental and association panels and offer the opportunity to incorporate exotic alleles into adapted material. Here, four barley MAGIC populations consisting of six to eight founders were tested for PM resistance in field trials in Denmark. Principle component and STRUCTURE analysis showed the populations were unstructured and genome-wide linkage disequilibrium (LD) decay varied between 14 and 38 Mbp. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) identified 11 regions associated with PM resistance located on chromosomes 1H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H and 7H, of which three regions are putatively novel resistance quantitative trait locus/loci (QTL). For all regions high-confidence candidate genes were identified that are predicted to be involved in pathogen defense. Haplotype analysis of the significant SNPs revealed new allele combinations not present in the founders and associated with high resistance levels. In many industrial fields, there is a need to design and characterize on-line and on-board hydrogen monitoring tools able to operate under extreme conditions. One of these applications is in future nuclear fusion reactors, which will use hydrogen isotopes as a plasma fuel. In this context, the measurement of the concentration of these hydrogen isotopes will be of interest to ensure the correct operating conditions for such reactors. Hydrogen sensors based on solid-state electrolytes will be the first step in the development of new analytical tools able to quantify deuterium and tritium in aggressive environments. In the present work, amperometric hydrogen sensors were constructed and evaluated using two solid-state electrolytes, BaCe0.6Zr0.3Y0.1O3-α and Sr(Ce0.9Zr0.1)0.95Yb0.05O3-α. Prototype sensors were built in order to study their sensitivity in on-line measurements. The experiments were performed in a reactor with a hydrogen-controlled environment. The sensors were evaluated at 500 and 600 °C in amperometric mode by applying 2 and 4 V voltages between electrodes. Both sensors showed increases in sensitivity when the temperature or voltage were increased.Railway track circuit failures can cause significant train delays and economic losses. A crucial point of the railway operation system is the corrective maintenance process. During this operation, the railway lines have the circulation of trains interrupted in the respective sector, where traffic restoration occurs only after completing the maintenance process. Depending on the cause and length of the track circuit, identifying and solving the problem may take a long time. A tool that assists in track circuit fault detection during an inspection adds agility and efficiency in its restoration and cost reduction. This paper presents a new method, based on frequency domain reflectometry, to diagnose and locate false occupancy failures of track circuits. Initially, simulations are performed considering simplified track circuit approximations to demonstrate the operation of the proposed method, where the fault position is estimated by identifying the null points and through non-linear regression on signal amplitude response. A field test is then carried out in a track circuit approximately 1500 m long to validate the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method can identify and estimate the fault location due to a short circuit between rails with high accuracy. The Compressed Sensing (CS) camera can compress images in real time without consuming computing resources. Applying CS theory in the Laser Communication (LC) system can minimize the assumed transmission bandwidth (normally from a satellite to a ground station) and minimize the storage costs of beacon light-spot images; this can save more than ten times the typical bandwidth or storage space. However, the CS compressive process affects the light-spot tracking and key parameters in the images. In this study, we quantitatively explored the feasibility of the CS technique to capture light-spots in LC systems. We redesigned the measurement matrix to adapt to the requirement of light-tracking. We established a succinct structured deep network, the Compressed Sensing Denoising Center Net (CSD-Center Net) for denoising tracking computation from compressed image information. A series of simulations was made to test the performance of information preservation in beacon light spot image storage. With the consideration of CS ratio and application scenarios, coupled with CSD-Center Net and standard centroid, CS can achieve the tracking function well. The information preserved in compressed information correlates with the CS ratio; higher CS ratio can preserve more details. In fact, when the data rate is up than 10%, the accuracy could meet the requirements what we need in most application scenarios.Accurate elevation data, which can be extracted from very high-resolution (VHR) satellite images, are vital for many engineering and land planning applications. In this way, the main goal of this work is to evaluate the capabilities of VHR Deimos-2 panchromatic stereo pairs to obtain digital surface models (DSM) over different land covers (bare soil, urban and agricultural greenhouse areas). As a step prior to extracting the DSM, different orientation models based on refined rational polynomial coefficients (RPC) and a variable number of very accurate ground control points (GCPs) were tested. The best sensor orientation model for Deimos-2 L1B satellite images was the RPC model refined by a first-order polynomial adjustment (RPC1) supported on 12 accurate and evenly spatially distributed GCPs. Regarding the Deimos-2 based DSM, its completeness and vertical accuracy were compared with those obtained from a WorldView-2 panchromatic stereo pair by using exactly the same methodology and semiglobal matching (SGM) algorithm.
