Ketika dewasa Alex memilih Abnegation tempat dia tumbuh dan berkembang selama ini sebagai pilihan nya. Dia merupakan kebanggaan orang tua nya ketika dia selesai menamatkan study nya di divergent fort academy. Dan berkat kemampuan nya Alex diangkat menjadi master of Abnegation. Selama hidup nya di Abnegation alex mempunyai teman atau partner sehidup semati. Caleb begitu partner nya itu biasa disapa. Mereka begitu dekat sehingga ada rumor yang mengatakan bahwa mereka terlibat cinta lokasi. Hal itu terlihat karena caleb menjadi satu satu teman hidup yang setia mendampinginya. Karena alas an itu lah wanita menjadi takut untuk mendekati Alex.
