Mantra Perlindungan
Protego >Pro-TAY-goh<
Protego adalah mantra perlindungan yang berfungsi melindungi duelist dengan cara menangkis serangan lawan. Protego bisa menangkis berbagai macam mantra dan kutukan namun ada juga beberapa mantra yang tidak mempan ditangkis. Contohnya, forbidden spell avada kedavra.
Cara pelafalan mantra protego biasa, pelafalan ditekankan dimana ada huruf kapitalnya "Pro-TAY-goh". Dan cara pengucapan meliputi intonasi dalam merapalkan mantra yang berpengaruh untuk efek mantra itu sendiri.
Protego memiliki beberapa mantra, masing-masing jenis memiliki perbedaan pada gerakan tongkat dan juga pada pelafalannya. Diantaranya :

Pelafalannya berupa 'pro-TAY-go DOO-oh!'. Tongkat digerakkan sama seperti Protego biasa, dan menghasilkan cahaya putih namun tidak lebih lebar dari cahaya biru dari mantra Protego biasa. Namun, memiliki kekuatan yang lebih besar dari mantra Protego biasa.
> Protego Horribilis
Pelafalannya berupa 'proh-TAY-goh hor-i-BIL-luhs'. Tongkat digerakkan kearah atas, dan menghasilkan bentuk yang seperti shield (semacam tameng untuk duelist) dan berwarna transparan. Cakupan mantra ini lebih luas dan hanya protego ini yang dapat menangkis sihir hitam.
