To investigate demographic and systemic health characteristics, and the types of dental procedures performed for adults with autism that had sought care at a dental school.

De-identified data were collected from the records of patients aged 18+ who have self-reported autism. Each patient's age, gender, BMI, mental health, heart disease, xerostomia, tobacco use, alcohol use, diabetes, use of drugs, seizures, and total number of medications, as well as the type and number of dental codes used in the care of that patient within each code category were included as variables.

The sample was composed by 244 patients. Mean age was 29.8years (±12.3), 64.8% were males, and mean BMI was 29.9 (±8.1). Mental health condition was reported by 79.9%, heart disease by 25.4%, xerostomia by 21.7%, 20.9% reported using tobacco, 18.9% reported using alcohol, 14.8% reported having diabetes, 10.2% reported using drugs, and 3.7% reported having seizures. The median number of dental procedures per patient was nine, and exams, preventive, operative, and surgical procedures were the most common ones.

However, these three agents have not yet been compared to one another regarding their pregnancy outcomes. The present study was designed to retrospectively compare pregnancy outcomes among the three aforementioned agents. This study involved infertile couples with an infertility duration of at least 2 years, ages 18 to 42 years and who were referred to have their first intrauterine insemination (IUI) treatment cycle. All patients underwent COH with recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (rFSH) plus CC (n = 118), letrozole (n = 81), or cetrorelix acetate (n = 62), followed by IUI. Using the one-way multivariate analysis of covariance to control female patients' ages, patients stimulated with cetrorelix acetate/rFSH or CC/rFSH had higher numbers of preovulatory follicles than women stimulated with letrozole/rFSH (P less then .02), whereas women stimulated with cetrorelix acetatery follicles and did not significantly increase endometrium thickness, but significantly improved pregnancy outcomes in comparison to CC and cetrorelix acetate.Although family members play an important role in various aspects of coping with cancer and are significantly affected by it, little is known about their perspectives regarding return to work (RTW). This study explored attitudes and experiences of cancer survivors' family members related to cancer survivors' RTW. RG7741 The present study consists of a qualitative research design, employing in-depth semistructured interviews with first-degree family members (N = 21) of cancer survivors who were approached through online social networks spouses, children, parents and siblings. Grounded theory techniques were used for data analysis. Four themes emerged from the interviews (a) the family's cautious voice in return-to-work decision making; (b) work-home imbalance; (c) inhibiting or promoting the effect of work on the recovery process and (d) expectations and appreciation of unconditional workplace support. The findings suggest that psychosocial and health care professionals should help family members play an active role in the decision of RTW. Professionals should also prepare family members for potential costs of RTW for the family and help them develop realistic expectations regarding workplace support of the cancer survivor.
This is an update of a Cochrane Review first published in 2005. Cervical dystonia is the most common form of focal dystonia and is a highly disabling movement disorder, characterised by involuntary, usually painful, head posturing. Currently, botulinum toxin type A (BtA) is considered the first line therapy for this condition. Before BtA, anticholinergics were the most widely accepted treatment.

To simulate in a laboratory setting longitudinal cracking in root filled premolar teeth, using cyclic mechanical fatigue.

Mesial-occlusal-distal (MOD) cavities were prepared in twenty root filled, single-rooted, mandibular premolars restored with fibre posts and resin composites. The samples were randomly divided into two groups based on the loading approaches static loading with a crosshead speed of 0.5mm/min and step-stress cyclic loading (1Hz) with increasing amplitude. The loads and numbers of cycles to failure were recorded. Micro-CT was also used to identify the fracture modes. Statistical analysis was performed using Student's t-test. The level of significance was set at 0.05.

The mean fracture loads for the static loading and cyclic loading groups were 769±171N and 720±92N, respectively. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The proportions of longitudinal, cuspal and mixed-mode fractures under cyclic loading were 50%, 20% and 30%, respectively. Longitudinal fractures occurred with larger numbers of cycles and higher average loads per cycle compared with the other fractures. Static loading produced only cuspal fractures.

Longitudinally cracked premolar teeth with root fillings were successfully produced using the step-stress cyclic loading method. This provides a more clinically representative methodology for studying cracked teeth in a laboratory setting.
