Symptom-free status was achieved by 93% of participants at one year post-procedure; clinical events stemming from the device constituted 68% of the total, characterized by cardiac death in 27%, target vessel myocardial infarction in 27%, and target lesion revascularization in 13%, all appearing exclusively in subjects with uncontrolled diabetes.
Analysis of the ultrathin-strut biodegradable polymer-coated sirolimus-eluting stent study, performed at both admission and one year later, reveals a low rate of adverse clinical events attributable to the device, consistent with published findings for the second generation of stents. This feasibility study validates the use of these stents across all applicable patient groups, with advantages stemming from biodegradable polymer and ultrathin struts. Complementing other healthcare initiatives, Oman must address diabetes through prevention, diagnosis, and management strategies, as this patient group experiences ST post-stenting.
