Twelve SD rats were divided into four treatment groups 1) non-treatment as negative control, 2) P(3HB) adjuvant, 3) PMB2 vaccine, and 4) adjuvanted-P(3HB)/PMB2 vaccine groups, which were intramuscularly vaccinated twice. Immunoglobulins IgG and IgM levels were used as markers of the immune response induced by the adjuvanted-P(3HB)/PMB2 vaccine and analysed over an eight-week study period. The group vaccinated specifically with adjuvanted-P(3HB)/PMB2 vaccine had higher concentrations of immunoglobulins compared to other treatment groups, hence demonstrating the potential of the adjuvant to enhance immune response. Findings showed a need to delay the delivery of the second booster dose to determine the appropriate regime for the adjuvanted-P(3HB)/PMB2 vaccine.Protein kinase C alpha (PKCα) is known to participate in various signaling pathways due to its ubiquitous and dynamic characteristics. Intra-articular corticosteroid injection is an effective treatment for pain and to improve the range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder joint. However, consideration of when it would be effective to inject corticosteroids after rotator cuff repair is more limited. The purpose of this study was to compare the outcomes of corticosteroids injection given at 4 and 8 weeks after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.

Between December 2016 and January 2018, 42 patients who underwent arthroscopic supraspinatus tendon repair were enrolled. Nineteen patients received 40mg of triamcinolone injection 4 weeks after surgery (group 1), while 23 patients received the same injection 8 weeks after surgery (group 2). Clinical outcome was evaluated using ROM, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Constant score, Korean Shoulder score, and a visual analog scale (VAS) score before surgery and at 3, 6, and 12 months after surgery. Tendon integrity was assessed with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and sonography at 12 moner the rotator cuff repair.

Numerous studies have reported that BJ exerts anticancer effect on various types of cancer lines through inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, inhibiting migration/invasion, inducing autophagy and restraining angiogenesis. Brucea javanica triggers the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), release of cytochrome C, activation of mitochondrial apoptosis pathway and regulation of a series of signal pathways and proteins related to cancer. The molecular mechanism involved are inhibiting the PI3K/Akt/mTOR, NF-κB and Nrf2-Notch1 pathways; up or down modulating the levels of p53, p62, p21, Bax, and Bcl-2 respectively, and inhibiting the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). Brucea javanica's efficacy in treating cancer patients either as a main or supportive treatment is also discussed in this review.

This review will serve as a comprehensive resource of BJ's potential as anticancer agent and its molecular pathways. The analysis of the literature suggests that BJ can serve as a potential candidate for the treatment of cancer.

The unpredictable condition of cracked teeth warrants further investigation and clinical experiences. The purpose of this study was to collect and record data on demographics, clinical characteristics, different treatment modalities and survival of cracked teeth at 6-month, 1-year and 2-year recalls.

77 cracked teeth from 65 patients were included. Data on demographics, clinical parameters, treatment modalities and recall were collected. Binomial, multinomial and chi square tests were used for statistical analysis.

Higher survival rates were noted in cracked teeth lacking pre-operative pain to palpation or spontaneous pain, and with no or only positive mobility at 6-month and 1-year recalls.
