A sleek modernist tower with a name that harkens back to a 19th-century crystal maker, the new Baccarat Hotel and Residences offers a luxurious, full-service branded lifestyle reminiscent of some of the city’s most exclusive buildings on billionaire row. The glass facade, designed by Studio Libeskind, reflects the skyline’s architectural history, while the interiors are a refined jewel box of dark wood paneling and Baccarat crystal accents.

The building’s opulent apartments range from one-bedrooms to four-bedroom duplexes and the full-floor penthouse. They feature soaring ceiling heights that range from more than 10 feet on floors 18 to 49 to 14 feet in the penthouse, and select residences have gracious terraces with water and power hookups.

Private residents of the Baccarat have complete access to all hotel amenities, including Le Chevalier (a new restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Shea Gallante), Spa de la Mer, a full fitness center and a marble-clad pool. A full-time doorman, concierge and valet services plus private lounges, a curated courtyard garden and private parking round out the building’s offerings.

Inside, the apartments are detailed by designer Tony Ingrao, who has designed homes for billionaire power brokers. He envisioned a unified space, with a grand entry gallery leading to the Great Room and views of Central Park and the cityscape. Flowing from there are a library, a dining room and a large eat-in kitchen with separate service entrance.

In the master suites, Fantini-polished chrome fixtures sparkle, while honed Lido white marble slab floors, walls and vanities and radiant-heated floors are used throughout. Powder rooms feature frosted glass wall panels and Lucite and mirrored glass vanity cabinets. All apartments are prewired for home automation of lighting, shades and temperature.

The luxury finishes also include custom-designed Baccarat crystal and metal closet doors, six-inch wide plank white oak floors with a natural finish, and Zircote wood paneled entry doors with Baccarat crystal inlays. Residents enjoy a dramatic, private residence lobby with dedicated entrance and marble floors, as well as a residents-only concierge desk.

All residences feature a full-size washer and dryer, and are wired for state-of-the-art capability, allowing them to be customized with integrated smart technology and control systems. The building is pre-wired for a video-monitored security system, with an optional doorbell camera that allows residents to see who’s at the front door.


In addition to accessing the hotel’s amenities, residents also receive in-home personal chefs and housekeeping, valet parking and a concierge ready with recommendations and reservations. They have complete hotel privileges, including discounts and private shopping at Baccarat stores in Paris and Moscow, and priority custom design and production.

The building’s location is among the most desirable in Midtown, adjacent to the CBS Building and Jean Nouvel-designed 53 West 53rd Street. The neighborhood also includes the historic St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the landmark Donnell Library, which was built in 1950 with a Spartan design by Aymar Embury II and Edgar I. Williams. The property’s address, 50 West 53rd Street, is just a short walk from the Broadway-bound 6 train at 53rd Street and Madison Avenue.
