Five Laws That Will Aid In The Item Upgrades Industry
Path of Exile Item Upgrades

The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading them. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage, more AD or even more attaches.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item they're attached to. There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Certain upgrades give armor an extra number of health points while others make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can receive is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.

It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

Most weapon upgrades require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a certain number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of upgrades will be lower if have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear with low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious bonuses and blessings.

To increase their level faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates utilize to increase their power. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will enhance its effectiveness when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boosts when it is inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones which require certain levels to gain. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment once.

It is normal to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. Apart from improving performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades players can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. enhance equipment like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be recovered through an upgrade extractor or salvaging using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character a variety of small, but valuable, advantages. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost to speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also make up for the lack of a good team or talent tree slots which are usually filled by the hero's optimal stats.

A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It's better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.

At the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and middle players will usually opt for the pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

Aside from the items mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating the boss.
