Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of damage, more AD or even more attachments.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item that they're attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will take on. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be more heavy.
There are a few different types of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional number of health points, while others make it lighter and more powerful. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below.
A few upgrades are magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the investment.
The process of upgrading an armor piece to the highest upgrade level will significantly increase its defense values but the wearer must be aware that putting on weight will drastically reduce its speed and agility. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces above +9, since the added defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power cost of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade can improve the damage that is caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Certain firearms have enhancements to enhance their intrinsic capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more expensive the upgrade. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could continue to do this until you reached the maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would be reset.
It's possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear that has low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a better chance of bringing you the most prestigious perks and blessings.
To increase their level faster, most players will prioritise upgrading their weapons. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to improve the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the grade of the gemstone has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones, which require an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without damaging the original. However you can only swap out one jewel in a piece of equipment once.
Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it feel smoother, and is often performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and make a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots does not damage them.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely traded, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that offer many small but useful benefits to your hero. You can find them in the start-up area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors and by completing road interaction. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives a small but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same way to how a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that are active when the hero is not in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's often more beneficial to upgrade one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.
In the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and mid players will usually opt for either a pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). gear improvement will have a major impact on the hero's map control abilities.
In addition to the items listed above, players will find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing the main quest of a chapter or beating a boss. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
