7% for the pneumococcal vaccine (3 doses), 75.8% for the MMR vaccine (2 doses) and 75.1% for the varicella vaccine (2 doses). The average age at vaccination was older than that recommended by the National Vaccination Plan. A diagnosis of oncological disease and an older age at enrollment were risk factors for missing vaccinations. These results showed that the overall vaccination status of pediatric onco-hematological patients is suboptimal. Improving provider communication and establishing the hospital as the primary environment for vaccine administration may lead to better vaccination compliance in this group. We investigated the fear of COVID-19 infection after proper translation and cultural adaptation of the "Fear of COVID-19 Scale" to the Brazilian Portuguese language. A sample of 1,743 Brazilian participants were included. The scale showed excellent psychometric characteristics. Women showed higher anxiety levels. Fear of COVID-19 scores were lower in males with occupational risk of contamination. On the other hand, women and younger individuals showed higher fear of COVID-19 infection scores. The Brazilian Fear of COVID-19 Scale proved to be a reliable tool with excellent psychometric properties for identifying fear of COVID-19 infection in the Brazilian population.
Six Delta is a six-dimensional independent platform for outcome-based pricing/contracting. The first dimension (δ1) estimates prices on the basis of cost-effectiveness (CEA) and cost-utility analysis (CUA). We describe this dimension's methodology and present a proof-of-concept application to the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR mutation with osimertinib.
CEA and CUA were performed using established methods. Probabilistic sensitivity analyses (PSA) were performed to generate cost-effectiveness acceptability curves (CEAC), specifically the PSA incremental cost-effectiveness (PSA ICER) and incremental cost-utility ratio generated CEACs (PSA ICUR). Price of treatment was estimated at three certainty levels (0%, turning point%, 100%). The marketed drug price at turning point was used to estimate prices at 0% and 100% certainty levels, as per PSA ICER and PSA ICUR-generated CEACs. The resulting prices were pooled, inflated, and simulated by Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) methods to estim varying levels of certainty that can be integrated into our proposed Six Delta platform for outcome-based pricing/contracting.Hairy root induction in Plantago lanceolata was optimized to take advantage of transformed root cultures. The highest frequency of transformation was achieved using leaf explant, A4 strain, pre-cultivation of explant, 150 µM Acetosyringone, 5 min inoculation, half-strength Murashige and Skoog basal medium as co-cultivation, and half-strength Gamborg's basal medium as a selective medium with 3% sucrose. Among the studied compound encompassing gallic acid, catalpol and apigenin, only the production of gallic acid in hairy roots was affected by 20 mg L-1 AgNO3 and 100 mg L-1 chitosan at 24 hr which yielded 7.63, 4.76-fold increase in its content, respectively. The methanolic extracts of hairy roots elicited by 20 mg L-1 AgNO3 exhibited anti-bacterial activity (MIC and MBC = 25 mg mL-1) against Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris and Salmonella typhi and anti-bacterial potential of non-elicited hairy roots of P. lanceolata (MIC = 25 mg mL-1 and MBC = 35 mg mL-1) were more active against Klebsiella pneumoniae and P. vulgaris than other bacteria. The methanolic extracts of the P. lanceolata hairy roots demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity on colorectal carcinoma cell line (SW-480) with IC50 = 250.65 ± 6.8 µg mL-1 in comparison to human embryonic kidney (HEK-293) with IC50 = 5263.65 ± 4.6 µg mL-1. Plantago lanceolata hairy roots showed important biological activity explaining its role in traditional medicine.A systematic literature review of Medline and Embase databases was conducted to describe rotavirus (RV) vaccine coverage for a complete series, timing of receipt of all doses in the series, and predictors of RV vaccination coverage in the US for two licensed RV vaccines (RV1, RV5). Nine publications were included in the review. RV vaccination coverage rates of under 80% suggest RV vaccines are underutilized relative to the Healthy People 2020 target and other childhood vaccines. About 50-90% of children initiating RV vaccination complete the series and coverage for a complete series is lower for black and Hispanic children (vs. whites), uninsured or Medicaid insured (vs. privately insured), and for foreign-born (vs. US-born) children. Series completion is significantly greater in children receiving DTaP, RV1 (vs. RV5), and for those receiving routine care from a pediatrician. There is a need to design and implement better RV immunization strategies for US children. This paper describes the taxonomy, developmental morphology, and phylogeny of Periplasma isogametum, a new monotypic member of the Leptomitales (Oomycota). In phylogenetic trees inferred from concatenated and separate nuc 18S rDNA (18S) and nuc 28S rDNA (28S) sequences, P. isogametum forms a well-supported clade related to but distinct from Apodachlya, a member of the Leptomitales. The organism is a holocarpic facultative saprotroph of moribund aquatic insects but grows well on a variety of mycological media in which it produces large eucarpic hyphae with a peripheral layer of protoplasm surrounding a central vacuole. In zoosporogenesis, a peripheral network of zoospore initials collapses to the center of the zoosporangium and is partitioned into individual heterokont zoospores. Sexual reproduction involves morphological isogamy in which male gametes produce elongate fertilization tubes, which fuse with female gametes, which are subsequently converted into thick-walled oospores. Developmental morphology is detailed in photomicrographs and pointillism drawings.
We performed a meta-analysis to determine diagnostic accuracy of Xpert MTB/RIF for diagnosis of abdominal (intestinal or peritoneal) tuberculosis (TB) in various tissues (intestinal, omental/peritoneal tissue or ascitic fluid).
Electronic databases were searched for observational studies on use of Xpert MTB/RIF in ascitic fluid, peritoneal, or omental tissue for diagnosis of peritoneal and intestinal TB. AZD-9574 We calculated the pooled sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio of Xpert MTB/RIF for diagnosis of peritoneal TB in comparison to composite reference standard (CRS) and culture, and in comparison to CRS for intestinal TB.
Twenty-five observational studies were included. The pooled sensitivity and specificity as assessed with peritoneal culture from ascites as an Index test was 64% (95% Confidence Interval [C.I.] 49-76%) and 97% (95% C.I., 95-99%) respectively and with peritoneal CRS was 30% (95% C.I., 22-40%) and 100% (95% C.I., 98-100%) respectively. In the intestinal group, the pooled sensitivity and specificity of Xpert MTB/RIF was 23% (95% C.
