Manual quality assurance (QA) of radiotherapy contours for clinical trials is time and labor intensive and subject to inter-observer variability. Therefore, we investigated whether deep-learning (DL) can provide an automated solution to salivary gland contour QA.
DL-models were trained to generate contours for parotid (PG) and submandibular glands (SMG). Sørensen-Dice coefficient (SDC) and Hausdorff distance (HD) were used to assess agreement between DL and clinical contours and thresholds were defined to highlight cases as potentially sub-optimal. 3 types of deliberate errors (expansion, contraction and displacement) were gradually applied to a test set, to confirm that SDC and HD were suitable QA metrics. DL-based QA was performed on 62 patients from the EORTC-1219-DAHANCA-29 trial. All highlighted contours were visually inspected.
Increasing the magnitude of all 3 types of errors resulted in progressively severe deterioration/increase in average SDC/HD. 19/124 clinical PG contours were highlighted asg the adoption of DL-based contour QA in clinical trials and routine practice. The pandemic of COVID-19 has caused global social impact and high health risk. Clinical observations have suggested that elevated levels of inflammatory mediators are associated with disease severities in COVID-19 patients, in which the immunological profiles indicate the hyperactivation of innate immune cells and dysregulated adaptive immune responses. The increasing prevalence and disease progression of COVID-19 has emerged as a pressing challenge for the management of rheumatic patients with immune dysregulations. Here we review the immune dysregulations in COVID-19 and discuss the management of COVID-19 patients with rheumatic diseases.Protection of privacy during gynecological examination is one of the important ethical principles and invasion of body privacy can cause anxiety. This study was conducted in order to determine the relationship between the level of importance women attach to privacy and the level of anxiety. This descriptive-correlational study consisted of 349 women who applied to the obstetrics outpatient clinic of a university hospital to have gynecological examination. Data were collected using Body Privacy Scale for Gynecology and Obstetrics and State Anxiety Inventory. Before the gynecological examination, the high importance women attach to privacy in rights and all of them experienced anxiety. A positive relationship was found between the importance women attach to privacy and their anxiety levels. It was determined that the importance women attach to body privacy in these areas explained 16.3% of the total variance at the level of anxiety.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? Gynecological examination is one of the basic examination methods in the protection of women's health. Protection of body privacy during gynecological examination is one of the most important ethical principles. Failure to exercise due care to ensure body privacy during gynecological examination causes anxiety in women. What do the results of this study add? In our study, it was found that women having gynecological examination place a high degree of emphasis on body privacy. It was determined that all women experienced anxiety before gynecological examination. It was determined that the importance women attach to body privacy was an important determinant in the increasing level of anxiety. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Not giving importance to body privacy, increases the level of anxiety before gynecological examination.Protein Z-dependent protease inhibitor (ZPI) serves as a cofactor of inhibition of FXa and FXIa by protein Z. The levels of protein Z and polymorphisms have been shown in preeclampsia (PE) patients, but the plasma levels of ZPI and ZPI gene mutations were not reported yet. The principal aim of this study was to identify the concentration of ZPI and gene polymorphism in PE. ZPI levels were determined in 113 PE patients (age 29.9 ± 3.9 years) and in 106 controls (normal pregnancy, age 27.0 ± 2.8 years). ZPI was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit, and the gene polymorphism was determined by polymerase chain reaction and sequencing. The results showed ZPI antigen was found to be significantly lower in PE patients than in controls (ZPI, 1.24 ± 0.29 mg/L vs. 1.94 ± 0.35 mg/L, p G(Gln384Arg) are necessary to confirm the association between ZPI and prothrombotic state including PE.Purpose To identify if addition of epinephrine to irrigation fluid can result in any intra-operative or post-operative complications. It was hypothesized that significant adverse events would be identified with the use of epinephrine in arthroscopic fluid.Methodology In accordance with PRISMA guidelines (Appendix 2), an electronic database search was conducted, from inception to February 2019 including MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane, CENTRAL, and Scopus (MeSH search). All English-language studies that addressed complications associated with arthroscopic use of epinephrine were included. Defined outcome measures were any reported intra- or post-operative adverse events secondary to epinephrine use. Data collection included patient demographics, comorbidities, surgical intervention, epinephrine concentration in irrigation fluid, reported complications, and details of the associated clinical prodrome. Results Three hundred and ninety-three abstracts were screened with 22 studies identified and reviewed in detail. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/17-oh-preg.html Of tomplications is rare, this review raises awareness to the pattern of reported symptoms, as it could help with identification and treatment should this rare complication be encountered. Background Longstanding gynecological pain affects large numbers of women in the Western world. Somatocognitive therapy (SCT), a hybrid of cognitive psychotherapy and physiotherapy, is an evidence-based approach that has been successfully applied in the treatment of women suffering from such disorders, for example chronic pelvic pain (CPP) and provoked vestibulodynia (PVD), both demanding pain conditions. The curriculum of Oslo Metropolitan University's Mensendieck physiotherapy bachelor's program includes SCT training for the management of PVD.Purpose The purpose of this study is to describe and explore the content of a SCT session based on a body and mind approach as performed by a physiotherapy student at a student outpatient clinic. Methods A video-based case study of the student-patient encounter was undertaken midway through an SCT treatment course and subjected to content analysis.Findings Three categories illustrating the learning process of body awareness, associated with the three-phase SCT were identified 1) demystifying genital and chronic pain; 2) concentration, and body and mind experiences; and 3) patience, persistence, and willingness to change.
